Viola McConnell Obituary

Viola M. McConnell, 92, a resident of Waymart most of her life, died Friday at the Carbondale Nursing Home.
She was married for thirty-nine years to Matthew A. McConnell, who died Jan. 3, 1976.
Born in Taylor on April 5, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mary Glinka Kudalski. She also lived in Simpson for many years and was educated in the Fell township schools. Prior to retirement she was employed over forty years as a seamstress for the former Katz Underwear Company in Honesdale. She was a devoted member of St. Mary's Church, Waymart, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the Lady of Fatima Prayer Group. A person of strong faith, she faithfully said the rosary. She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, and grandmother and will be deeply missed.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Carbondale Nursing Home for the excellent care given to their loved one, especially nurses Barbara, Crissy, and Sara, and CNA's, Melissa, Judy, and Liz. Special thanks is extended to the most compassionate staff of Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
Surviving are her daughter, Marion Lehutsky and husband Joseph, Waymart; a brother, John Kudalski, Melvindale, Michigan; Grandchildren, Joseph Lehutsky Jr. and wife Dawn, Waymart; Michael Lehutsky and wife Toni, Honesdale; Brian and Christopher McConnell, Honesdale; and Teresa Supinski, Lake Ariel; great-grandsons, Sean and Scott Lehutsky, Waymart; Ethan Lehutsky, Honesdale; and Trent and Lucas McConnell, Honesdale, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a son, Matthew J. McConnell, and a brother, Chester Kudalski, who died in infancy.
The funeral will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. from the Jenkins Funeral Home, 269 Belmont St., Waymart, with mass at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, celebrated by the Rev. Gerard McClone, senior priest. Interment, Canaan Corners Cemetery.
There will be a visitation on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. The rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary's Church, PO Box 160, Waymart, 18472, or to Hospice of the Sacred Heart, 600 Baltimore Drive, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., 18702.

Marion, Joe and family, Aunt Viola will be greatly missed. I sit here remembering all the good times of my childhood which she was a key part of. How close she was with my mom; their trip to Florida with Uncle Leo, how she took our dog, Princess, to live with her when Princess got sick. She was a very loving, caring person. My prayers and thoughts are with you. Love, Lil Jones (Peachtree City, GA)
