CARL JOE SCHIELD Carl Joe Schield, 89, of Hutchinson, KS, formerly of Medicine Lodge, KS, died Sunday, February 25, 2024 at Good Samaritan Society, Hutchinson Village. He was born on October 12, 1934 in Plains, KS, the son of Peter Joseph "Pete" Schield and Ruby Faye (Hoskinson) Schield. On September 6, 1953, he married Margaret Joanne (Clymer) Schield in Liberal, KS. She survives. Carl was a Production Superintendent in the oil field and a member of the First Christian Church of Medicine Lodge, KS. Carl and his wife Joanne were residents of Greensburg, KS, before relocating to Medicine Lodge, KS after the tornado in 2007. Surviving in addition to his wife, Joanne Schield are two sons, Terry (Janet) Schield of Hutchinson, KS and Doug (Kim) Schield of Clermont, FL; three grandchildren, Peter (Jennifer) Schield, Amy (Jake) Bauer and Alexa (Joe) Olson; Eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Eugene, Edward and Robert Schield and one sister, Dorothy Hardaway. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Medicine Lodge, KS with Pastor Tom Walters officiating. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Plains Cemetery, Plains, KS. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in care of Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E.
