JOHN DAUNER Pratt: John Phillip Dauner, 81, passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Parkwood Village. He was born the eldest son of John Roots and Dorothea Dauner on December 21, 1942 in Pratt. John married Kimberly Kennedy Parker on August 30, 1979 at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada. She preceded him in death in 2014. John graduated from Sawyer High School in 1960, where he was the senior class president. While in school, he loved to play basketball and compete in track. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business from Fort Hays State University. He was a rancher and farmer and a lifelong resident of Pratt. He enjoyed riding the 4-wheeler on his land, checking the cattle and taking his dogs for rides in the pickup or Ranger. He was an animal lover both domestic and wild. One of his greatest pleasures was attending the races of his horses. At his home, John could call the wild deer with a can of corn and his voice. He was passionate about Kansas University Basketball and looked forward to watching every game. He is survived by his two daughters, Dedra Brant and husband Bo of Pratt and Jill Dauner and husband Ben Jacobson formerly of Tegernsee, Germany; and sister, Louanne Miller of Wichita. John is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothea Dauner-Meyer; father, John Dauner; wife, Kimberly Dauner; sister, Loretta White; and brother, Ed Dauner. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., with reception following on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Larrison Mortuary, 300 Country Club Road, Pratt.
