SHARON BIRDSONG

SHARON BIRDSONG Sharon Kay Birdsong, 69, of Turon, passed away on September 10, 2025, at Hospice House of Hutchinson. She was born on December 25, 1955, in Colby, Kansas, daughter of Kenneth and Bernice Chopp. Sharon grew up with a love for horses, spending countless hours riding and competing in barrel racing, poles, and horse showmanship. A 1974 graduate of Fairfield High School, Sharon went on to build a career that included time as a homemaker, working in retail, and later serving others in the CNA and medical records field. Family was always the center of Sharon's world. She was most proud of being a mother and grandmother, and nothing brought her greater joy than time spent with her loved ones. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events and cherished her pizza dinner dates with her grandsons. Sharon also enjoyed trips to Branson with her granddaughters, attending Texas Tenors concerts, baking special treats like her famous Root Beer Cake and Cherry Cheesecake, and creating beautiful diamond art projects. She was also known to be quite the pool shark. Her giving spirit extended beyond her family, as she chose to share the ultimate gift of life through organ donation. She is survived by her husband, Ervin of the home; children, Jason Pennel of Wichita, Amanda (Will) Alexander of Hutchinson, Nick (Elyse) Birdsong of Pratt, and Matt Birdsong of Hays; her siblings, Misty (Darin) Luthi of Hillsboro and Diana Chopp of Hutchinson; her grandchildren, Ryan Bailey, Cole Sprier, Josephene (Logan) Shaefer, Emily Pennel, Madilynn Birdsong, Blayze Birdsong, and Rhett Birdsong; her niece and nephew, Zach Luthi and Kassidi (JD) Schroeder; and her great-grandchild, Hayden Shaefer. She is also leaving behind two fur-babies, Max and Teddy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Bernice Chopp. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will follow.
