Arthur Milanese

Arthur M. Milanese EAST GREENBUSH - Arthur M. Milanese, 92, of East Greenbush passed away peacefully at home on October 11, 2017, surrounded by his family. A World War II veteran, Arthur joined the U.S. Navy immediately after the attack on Pearl Harbor and served for the duration of the war. He served primarily on troop transport ships in both the Atlantic and Pacific Theaters and was honorably discharged in 1945. Arthur was employed by the Tobin Packing Company in Albany as a truck driver from 1946 until his retirement in 1988. He enjoyed organizing trips and playing bocce with his friends at the East Side Seniors of Troy, where he was the former President and Bocce League Chairman for approximately 20 years. Arthur was a avid clay target shooter and tournament organizer. He was the former Skeet Chairman at the Hendrick Hudson Fish & Game Club in Poestenkill, a position in which he served for close to 40 years. He organized and ran many skeet and trap shooting competitions, including the New York State Championships, the Empire State Games, U.S. Olympic Team Tryouts, U.S. Zone and Regional Championships, as well as the New York State Police Olympics. A warm and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he was a natural leader, friendly, helpful and respectful to all. He was the husband of 59 years to Patricia Milanese; father to Michael Morgan, Colleen (Norman) Rowe, James Morgan (Michael Brown) and Brian (Tracie) Milanese; grandfather to Cori (Craig) Delehanty, Amy Rowe, Ian (Julie) Morgan, Clare Morgan (Michael Henry), Chloe (Steven) Perazzelli, Isabel Morgan (Jack McCulley) and Hannah Morgan (Derek Mitchell); and great grandfather to eight adorable children. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Arthur was the son of the late Frank and Filomena Milanese. He was a brother of Michael Milanese, Margaret Carozza, Anna Pastore, Nellie Langenbach, Florence Scaccia, Amy Iana and Angie Schewe (all deceased). The family would like to thank the Community Hospice staff for the care and support they provided to Arthur and his family. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the W. J. Lyons Funeral Home, 1700 Washington Ave. Ext., Rensselaer on Sunday from 4 until 8 p.m. The funeral will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Troy.
