COLONIE-Byron Jesse Williams, devoted husband, and father, died peacefully October 09, 2021. He was 93. Born August 6, 1928, to Byron J. Williams Sr. and Ruth Williams. By graduated from Garden State School on Long Island. Upon graduation, Byron married the love of his life of 72 years, Bertha (Bert) Albright from Ravena. They moved to Portchester, NY where he worked on a dairy farm. In 1952, By joined his father in the infant wear manufacturing business at Swanknit Inc. of Cohoes. By was an avid traveler with Bert by his side, often with his children and grandchildren in tow. He visited all 50 states, parts of Europe, many Caribbean islands, Bermuda and Caymans being his favorite. His most cherished destination was the Jersey Shore where he summered as a boy and vacationed with his extended family for many years. His pastimes included tending to his vegetable garden, enjoying his train set, chatting with the neighbors, relaxing in his backyard pool, or taking long walks. He also enjoyed Sunday drives with Bert that always ended with a lovely meal at a favorite or “new” restaurant they discovered on their journey. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his adoring wife Bert; children Lynda (Aram) Kaprielian and Laura (Thomas) Phelps; his 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He is the brother of Roger Williams in England and MaryLee Garrett in Florida and the late Carolyn Powell. Byron is also survived by several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the Ellis Residential and Rehabilitation Center staff for their thoughtful service and tender care.
