Charles Matheson Obituary

Charles “Chuck” Matheson SCHAGHTICOKE - Charles “Chuck” Matheson of Casey Road passed away on Sunday, February 1, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy. He was 78. Born in Gowanda, New York on July 10, 1936, son of the late Robert and Frances (Boys) Matheson. He is the husband of the former Dorothy A. Baxter, whom he married on March 7, 1959. Mr. Matheson served in the United States Army with the 11th Airborne Paratroopers. He worked as a machinist at the Watervliet Arsenal and enjoyed racing stock cars at Lebanon Valley Speedway and riding his motorcycle. Survivors in addition to his wife of 56 years Dorothy Matheson include their Daughters, Debra (Robert) Keefner of Valley Falls, Marie (Terry) Thibodeau of North Bennington, VT, his siblings Martha (Charles) Rifenburgh of Buskirk, Phillip (Melissa) Matheson of Exton, PA and Sally (Jack) Deming of Greenville, SC., his beloved grandchildren Bryan Delurey of Buford, GA, Laura Keefner, Lynn Delurey and Jacob Keefner all of Valley Falls and one great grandchild Noellani Gillians of Middletown. He is predeceased by a daughter Karen Matheson whom passed at birth. Relatives and friends may call from 3-4pm on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at the Chase-Smith Family Funeral Homes, 173 Main Street, Schaghticoke. A memorial service will be conducted at the convenience of his family. Kindly consider memorial donations to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County or to the Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Chuck Matheson.
