Troy, NY - Daniel J. Baker, 70, of Troy entered into eternal life on January 11, 2022 at Van Rensselaer Manor surrounded by his loving family.Born In Troy, he was the son of the late Joseph and Arleen Luby Baker.Dan was a graduate of Troy High School in 1970.He was employed with the Troy Fire Department and was a Tillerman on Truck #3 which he really loved and road the backstep of Engine #3. He retired 11/26/89.Dan was a member of the Crab Post, Uniformed Firefighters Association and the UFA Retirees.Dan loved living his younger years in South Troy. “South Troy Against the world”.Dan loved to go camping with all his buddies at Brandt Lake and Frosty Acres. His friends could always depend on Danny to be there whenever they needed help. He was a great friend. He loved history and could quote dates of events which was astonishing. You could often find him exploring old grave stones in the cemetery. He was a huge Nascar fan and loved to drive. If he wasn’t driving, he was taking long walks. He loved to travel. Dan always came up with unusual sayings that we all enjoyed. One of our favorites is…”I’ll never forget what’s his name”.Dan is survived by his daughters Angela Baker-Lisi and Alison Baker-Gross; his grandchildren Ciara Tabone, Riley Gross, Sophia Lisi, Brody Jayne and Jacob Lisi. He is also survived by his sisters Terry (Gary) Film, Ruth (Ed) Schultz, Tracy Goyer and Mary Jo Baker. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.Dan was predeceased by several of his best friends including Bill Smith, Bill Wessels, Jack Prendergast, Kenny Miller, Mountain, Joey Maloney, Charlie Nold, Tom Matusie, Paul Klem, Michael Mahr, Tom Casey, Butch Green, Ed Seney and many more.Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph’s Church in Troy on Saturday at 10:30 am. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
