Frederick Gleason Obituary

Frederick John Gleason NORTH GREENBUSH - Frederick John Gleason, Jr. passed away on January 20, 2016 at the age of 79 after a long illness. Fred was a resident of the Capital District area for over 50 years. Born July 3, 1936, most of his younger years were spent growing up in Scituate, MA. He went on to receive his B.A. degree from Trinity College, Hartford, CT and his M.B.A. degree from Siena College. Fred was a Senior VP at Key Bank, retiring after a career of 40 years with the bank. For over 15 years, he also served as a member of the Adjunct Faculty at Russell Sage College, teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. His activities included being past President of Sand Lake Kiwanis Club, as well as an involvement in numerous nonprofit organizations, serving on the boards of many. He was also very active in St. Jude the Apostle Catholic Community. Fred served as a previous Chairman of the Church Finance Committee, as well as a member of the School Board and school Finance Committee. In addition he was involved as a Lector, Usher and Mass Coordinator. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his rounds as a member of the Country Club of Troy and the Burden Lake Country Club. In August of 2006, Fred gloriously made a hole in one on the 8th hole at the Troy Country Club. The thirsty members at the 19th hole were glad to celebrate with him that afternoon. Fred is survived by loving wife of 52 years, Alexandra ‘Sandra’ (Nowak) Gleason; daughters Elizabeth (Gleason) Houser and husband James Houser, Laura (Gleason) O’Connell and husband Jason O’Connell; grandchildren Justin, Kyle, and Lauren Houser; cousins Carol Kerrigan and husband Anthony Kerrigan and their children Beth, Thomas, Maria, Peter, and Patrick Kerrigan and their families; and cousin Jerry Cogan and his wife Doris Cogan. Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 4-7 PM. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 9:00 AM at the funeral home and at 9:30 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Church Wynantskill where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Anthony Ligato , Pastor. Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery Colonie. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Frederick J.
