Kelly Sheldon Obituary

Kelly A. Sheldon BRUNSWICK - Kelly A. (Quigley) Sheldon, 50, formerly of Brunswick, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at South Shore Medical Center Hospital in Weymouth, Massachusetts, following a lifelong struggle with both cerebral palsy and type one diabetes. Born March 14, 1964, in Troy, Kelly was the daughter of the late Bernard F. Quigley and Beverly A. (Rose) Quigley-Kantrowitz and Jules “Roy” Kantrowitz of Brunswick who survive. At the age of 6 years old Kelly was the Albany area Cerebral Palsy telethon child and at age 7 earned a Red Cross Swimming award. She attended Tamarac High School and loved singing in the school choir. When asked she said her greatest accomplishments were getting married, raising three beautiful healthy children of her own with the help of her parents and taking pride in the fact that she was stubborn enough to live 20 years beyond her doctor’s expectations. Kelly enjoyed collecting music boxes and listening to late 60’s and early 70’s rock music. In addition to her mother and “Dad”, Kelly is survived by three children, Jaime L. (Bryan) Sheldon of Brunswick, Matthew K. (Lydza) Sheldon of Nassau and Dove E. Sheldon of Lee, MA, four brothers and sisters, Karen C. Quigley of Kingsport, TN, Michael K. (Nancy) Quigley of Tauton, MA, Peg and (“Bud”) Sheffer of Grafton and Douglas (Whitney) Kantrowitz of Delanson, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at 1:00 P.M. at the Howard B. Tate & Son Funeral Home Inc. 2237 NY Route 7, located in Raymertown with Rev. Gaylord Campbell officiating. Burial will take place in Meadowlawn Cemetery in Petersburg followed by a time of reception at the Petersburg United Methodist Church Hall. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday, from 11:00 A.M – 12:50 P.M. prior to the memorial service. Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the Mohawk and Hudson Humane Society, c/o the Howard B. Tate & Son F.H. Inc., 2237 NY-7, Troy, NY 12180, in memory of Kelly Ann Sheldon.

May God Bless Kelly and her family at this difficult time. All should be proud of all Kelly overcame and accomplished. I graduated a year ahead of Kelly and even 30 years ago saw the fighter in her. God will take care of her now.
