Mr. Gilooly was more than just a teacher for me and many others at Bishop Maginn. He was a friend, a mentor and someone that you could always count on. He will truly be missed by everyone whose life he impacted.

It is so difficult to accept why things like this happen.. I guess God puts these special people on earth to show us all what goodness truly is.. You were all blessed to have a son , husband and father who loved you all so very much .. Know that so many young people will always be inspired by his teaching and coaching and carry his memory forever..

I'm sorry to read about Rich's passing. I reffed numerous games at probably all the schools that he coached at. Rich was a super nice guy who will be sorely missed by all. I will keep him in my prayers and may Rich rest in peace.

I am so sorry for your loss. I remember how wonderful and dedicated Rich was when I had Emma and Kate in swim lesson at the Greenbush YMCA. He was always asking me how he could help the girls be more comfortable in the water and spending time with them in free swim after lessons. He also gave me great advice on my resume when I was looking for a job as a Social Studies teacher. He was a wonderful man, and a great father, whose spirit and dedication will be missed in the world. May God hold you in His hand as you grieve this deep and sudden loss. I hold the three of you and your extended family in my prayers.

My son Douglas is a Senior at CCHS and also has a love for history. After attending Mr. Gilooly's class, my son had decided to go to college and become a history teacher. May you have comfort in knowing the impact that your Son/Husband/Dad had on my son's life and I thank God for putting him in my Son's path.

Mrs. Gilooly, Emma, and Kate: I wanted to let you know how your husband/father touched my daughter's life. He was her American Gov't/Econ teacher at CCHS. She adored Mr. Gilooly because he was the only teacher who ever "got her". He understood her sense of humor, her sarcasm, and her attitude. He saw something in her that we, her parents knew she had, but he saw it too. He encouraged her to be the best she could be and to not pay attention to what others thought. He gave her a confidence that we have never seen. She has always been an excellent student, but he pushed her, and made her an even better one. She always came home with "Guess what happened in Gilooly's class today" stories. Not sure if you knew it, but he always told the class about his daughters and his wife. What a special man who made a special family.
While we can never repay him for the special gift her gave our daughter, we can thank you for letting her share him with you and your beautiful daughters. Please know that so many people were touched by him and that many, many people are thinking of you all.

Stay strong in the knowledge that you all now have a guardian angel that will protect you for all of your days.
