Ballston Spa, New York - Sophia Marie John, 19, of Ballston Spa, passed away peacefully on Monday Dec. 18, 2023 at Albany Medical Center after a short battle with Leukemia. She was born on Nov. 19, 2004 in Ft. Worth, Texas and was the beloved daughter of Lisa Marie Lajeunesse John (Arthur Taylor) and Mark C. John. She was a graduate of Shenendehowa High School, Class of 2022. Sophia was a sophomore at Bentley University with a major in Corporate Finance and a minor in Accounting. Sophia was a part of the Zeta Rho Chapter of Alpha Phi where she was an active and involved member, taking a spot on their recruitment team. An avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan, she loved her studies and listening to all types of music while driving with friends to explore the world and enjoy their company. She loved the Saratoga Race track since she was a baby, and enjoyed dressing up for all of the races.A passion for downhill skiing, Sophia also enjoyed the ocean, particularly Grand Cayman, boating on Lake George with her dad, and snuggling with her dogs, Dublin, Delilah, and Oscar. Like her mom, she loved going out to eat and trying new foods. She was a communicant of Corpus Christi Church where she made her sacraments.Sophia is the much loved daughter of Lisa Marie John (Arthur Taylor) and Mark C. John; loving sister to Isabella Catherine John and her twin, Ava Christine John. Sophia is the niece of Mary Ellen Gokey (Fred), Billy Lajeunesse (Cindy), Catherine Johnson, Laura Levensohn (Adam), Joanne Lajeunesse (Seth Madison), Michael John (Maria), David John (Meera), and Lisa Germano. Sophia is also survived by her cousin, Brady, who was like a brother to her, several other beloved cousins, and so many more dear friends near and far.We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of the physicians and nurses of the ICU Unit at Albany Medical Center for the care and compassion they showed to Sophia and her family during this difficult time. It will never be forgotten. Also, we would like to acknowledge all of the love and support provided by Debbie Nuttall to Sophia and her family.The funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at Corpus Christi Church, 2001 Route 9, Round Lake, New York, 12151 where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Thursday in the Gordon C.
