William McMahon Obituary

MCMAHON, WILLIAM TROY - William G. McMahon 69 of Troy passed into eternal rest on Sunday July 10, 2011 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield Ma. surrounded by his loving family. Bill was born in Troy and was the son of the late Joseph and Marie Connors McMahon and loving husband of Mary Varriale McMahon of Troy. Bill graduated from Troy High School and Hudson Valley Community College both in Troy . He served his country in the US Army. Bill had worked for Norton Co. in Watervliet and then for the New York State Dept. of Social Services retiring in 2002 .He was very involved with CSEA and was on the board of directors. Bill was a very proud communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Troy was a former president of the parish council and a member of the St. Vincent DePaul society of the church. He enjoyed spend time and cooking for his wife ,children and especially his grandson Thomas. He will always be remembered as having a wonderful sense of humor and truly enjoying his Irish heritage . In addition to his wife Mary , Bill is also survived by his daughter Elizabeth ( Craig )D'Allaird of Clifton Park ,his son Conor McMahon of Troy and his grandson Thomas D'Allaird .He was the brother of Edmund ( Carm ) McMahon of Watervliet and was pre-deceased by his brothers Joseph ,Michael and Peter McMahon and his sisters Ann Clement and Rita Hope. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and many friends. The funeral service for Bill will be held on Thursday morning at 9am from The Wm. Leahy Funeral Home 336 Third St. Troy and at 9:30 at St. Joseph's Church where a mass of Christian burial will be celebrated . Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4- 8PM. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery in Troy . Contributions in Bill's memory may be made to the food pantry at St. Joseph's Church in Troy
