Sister Marie Jose' Rhodes
Sister Marie Jose' Rhodes Sister Jo was born on September 12, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio and given the name Donna Rhodes. In 1945, her parents and siblings moved to Tucson, AZ. Here, after a brief struggle with ALS, Sister passed the portals of death on March 5, 2009. She is preceded in death by her parents, Estelle and Robert Rhodes and her brother, Jim Rhodes. In 1945, her parents and siblings moved to Tucson, AZ. Sister Jo entered the Sisters of Charity in 1951 and then joined sisters For Christian Community in 1988. Through both communities, she has dedicated her life to the mission of Jesus through the unconditional loving of others. She has worked across the U.S. in schools, parishes, and private homes. She is remembered as a teacher, a confidant, a spiritual guide, a health care provider, a farmhand, a beadworker, a business manager, a carpenter and a friend. She is survived by three sisters: Shirley Paulus and husband Ray, Mary Jane Simmons, Mary Catherine Miller; three brothers, Dusty Rhodes and wife Annette, Ron Rhodes and wife Sherrie, and Lou Rhodes and wife Mary. The family extends further to nieces and nephews and grand and great-grandnieces and nephews. All who have been touched by Sister Jo will remember her ever expanding heart. A Rosary, Songs, Prayers and Scripture will be shared on Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 3:00 p.m. in the Angel Valley Funeral Home, 2545 N. Tucson Blvd. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Sister Jo's life, donations may be made to: ALS Association, AZ. Chapter, 4643 E. Thomas Rd. I am so sorry that I did not have the opportunity to meet Sister Jo, but it sounds like she was a wonderful woman. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
