Big Brother, it's been a year and I still miss you!!! I only hope that you knew in life how much you would be missed. If it is true that the road to Heaven is gaurded by U. S. Marines I hope guard duty is a lot easer to pull than it was in the Corps! SEMPER FI

Doug & Family, We are still so sad all these months after your Dad's passing. I'm so happy we got to spend the past seven winter's with your Dad. We loved him so. We have such good memories of Al. He was such a good person. We are proud of all his accomplishments. When I'd call him, I'd ask,"What are you up to" and his answer was always " just another day in paradise" he truly is in paradise now. Winter's will never be the same in Tucson . We miss you Al,Love Ron & Barb

I remember my uncle Al as a role model growing up and for being there for Gina and I in my adult years. He was there for us on the happiest day and the saddest day of our lives. He would never hesitate to help friends or family during their time of need, that was just his way. He will be sorely missed but will always have a place in our hearts.

When I am gone, release me, let me go.
I have so many things to see and do.
You must not tie yourself to me with tears.
Be thankful for our beautiful years.
I gave to you my love, you can only guess how much you gave to me in happiness.

I thank you for the love you each have shown.
But now it's time I traveled on alone.

So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must.
Then let your grief be comforted by trust.
It's only for a time that we must part.
So bless the memories within your heart.
I won't be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come.
Tho you can't see or touch me.
I'll be near and if you listenwith your heart,
you'll hear all my love aroung you soft and clear.

And then when you must come this way alone.
I'll greet you with a smile and say,
"Welcome Home" (unknown author)

Al was a close friend of mine for more than 50 years. He was fun loving but more than that, he was a very caring man. Doug and Doug's family were always the number one topic of any conversation. Al was the sheriff's deputy that we teach our children to look up to. He will not be forgotton.

Al, you became a big brother to me when I moved to Arizona to attend the UofA back in 1979, the best friend of my brother-in-law John Beichner. Never having been to AZ, you fit the image of a quiet, western law man for a gal from New England; honest, hard working always finding time to care for others. Doug was the biggest joy in your life and no father could have been prouder - you set a fine example and it is obvious you did your job well. Thirty years later and you still couldn't stop boasting about him! I will always cherish the memories and the joy you brought to my life and that of my family, and remember and miss you always.

Al and I spent the past few years working together on his Tucson show. We spent a fair amount of time together and I came to think of him as more of a friend than a client very quickly. When we would get together we would talk a little business but I do not recall a time the conversation didn't turn to family. He loved his family very much and he would light up when he spoke of you. I will miss him a great deal... Rest in peace my friend.

Al was truly the best, most honest and most hardworking man I have ever known. His support, advice and guideance over the years has been invaluable to me - his involvement in my daughters life has been incredible -she will miss her "buddy" more than I can say . The part Al played in my daughters life cannot be expressed adequately. He would you give you the shirt off his back and never ask for a favor in return. He was the eptiome of the strong silent type except when he spoke about his son, Doug and his grandchilden - he is so very proud of them all. Al has been and always will be in my heart. I am not going to say goodbye because I know that he is "up there" still sending his stength down to those he knew and loved. What a very special man he was. I love you Al.

P.S. -- I truly hope that there is a forever full coffepot up there for you.

I first met Al in 1972 while we were both serving in the Marines. We looked so much alike most thought us brothers. He was a bit older and always was there for me. Whenever he would call he would say "I was just thinking of you". We have stayed connected and have seen eath other often over the years whenever possible. Al will always be the big brother I never had and I and my family will miss him a lot. Semper Fi.

I am heartbroken over this news. I was very close to Al when I was growing up, but even in later years he continued to provide his friendship and guidance when I was at the U of A. Al was simply one of the nicest, most caring individuals I've ever met. I consider myself incredibly blessed that he and his incredible son, Doug, were a part of my life for so many years. He will be greatly missed.
