Andrew Dowdle Obituary

74, passed away on January 17, 2024.  A fifth generation Tucsonan, he was preceded in death by his parents, AC and Pat Dowdle, and sisters Patsie Otten, Susie Maish, and Chris White.  Survived by sisters Meg (Hud) Hudson, Barb (Cliff) Videll, and close friend Roberta Leif; plus many loving nieces , nephews and numerous relatives and friends.  Andrew was a Research & Statistics Division Manager with the Pima County Superior Court for forty plus years, and a master historian for the courts. His passion for being the family historian originated with the discovery that his great, great grandfather owned a cattle ranch near Madera Canyon in the 1870's.  Andrew was also an avid philatelist and coin collector.  He lovingly tended his two Corvette babies - a 1959 Roadster and a 1991 ZR1-LT5.  Andrew was not only a dedicated son and brother, but he spent decades spoiling his nieces and nephews.  He was beloved by all.  There will be a graveside memorial service on Friday, January 26, 2024 at 11:00 at Evergreen Cemetery, 3015 N Oracle Rd.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Andrew's name at either one of his two favorite charities - Casa de los Ninos or the Community Food Bank.

I so enjoyed talking Arizona history with Andy when I worked downtown. And his work on court states was fantastic. He was brilliant and kind, and a kindred spirit in his interest in the story of Arizona, especially Tucson. Great respect to Andy and deep sympathies to his family and friends.

Andy will be missed by all who worked with him in our respective research fields. We often spent hours together in the medical school library stacks at the University of Arizona. RIP Andy.
