Anita Johnson Obituary

Anita Faye Garrett Johnson passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025 at age 90.

Anita was an independent woman with an extraordinary work ethic. She pursued educational and career opportunities throughout her life, exploring many areas of interest. Her first degree was in elementary education, and she went on to receive degrees in speech and audiology. She was an educator, University research assistant, speech therapist, and even had a short stint as a stockbroker. But Anita was most passionate about guiding children through speech therapy, her most meaningful work.

She took up running, bicycling, hiking and backpacking to enjoy and explore the scenic desert and mountains of Tucson. She especially loved running in Sabino Canyon.

Anita was a wonderful mother, wife, sister and aunt. She accompanied her younger daughter to many equestrian events and took up skiing with her older daughter. She had a special bond with her only grandchild through music and travel. Anita was dedicated to her family and friends.

Anita is survived by sister Jani, daughters Debra (Steve), Kathryn (Tim), grandson Parker, great-grandson Jaxun, nieces, and great nieces and nephews. Anita was preceded in death by her sister Sharon and husband Ed.

We celebrate her life and appreciate all she gave to us.
