Anthony D'Eustachio Obituary

Anthony J. D'Eustachio, PhD Anthony J. "Tony" D'Eustachio, December 7, 1931 - January 21, 2011, passed away peacefully at home in Sahuarita, attended by his wife Roni and their loving family. He is survived by his wife, Roni; his daughters, Mariel (Ian) Dennis of Sacramento, CA and Stephanie (Dennis) Greene of Palm Springs, CA and brother, Dr. Richard D'Eustachio of Cherry Hill, NJ; stepsons, Ross (Jamie) Hesseling and Ryan (Marcy) Hesseling, grandchildren, Austen, Dalles, Kanaan and Kenedie Hesseling. Tony excelled at Burlington High School, lettering in Track & Field and Football. He graduated from Juniata College (BS in Biochemistry), where he met his first wife, Elizabeth Ann Sulanke of Waynesboro, PA. Daughter Mary Elizabeth (Mariel) was born during the time that Tony attended the University of Pennsylvania to complete his doctorate in Microbiology/Biochemistry. In 1960, Tony joined DuPont as a research biochemist and the family moved to Wilmington, DE, and welcomed daughter, Stephanie Ann. Tony continued as a Captain in the US Army Reserves, with 11 years in the Chemical Corps. In 1969, the family moved to Irvine, California as he shifted jobs. Tony's entrepreneurial spirit emerged and in 1970, he founded Centaur Chemicals where he pioneered the first low-cost micropipette. After selling Centaur, he joined JT Baker, then Boehringer Mannheim as the Corporate Vice President and subsequently Division President for eight years. In 1982, Tony moved home to be with Ann and the family as she fought and lost her battle in 1983 with cancer. Tony then worked in investment banking and venture capital development, when in 1986, he met and fell in love with Roni Hesseling, a local banking executive, and in 1987, their families merged. In 1991, Tony joined Kodak/Amersham and they relocated first to England, and then to Braunschweig, Germany, where Tony ended his long and illustrious career in 1996 as the Managing Director of Amersham Buchler/Central Europe. After Tony retired, they moved to Sahuarita, AZ, where they became avid gardeners and active in local civic and community affairs. In 2008, they were instrumental in the opening of DCI Dialysis center in the Sahuarita area to serve local patients. Tony has generously donated his body to science to aid in the research of kidney disease. The family wishes to thank the Sahuarita Dialysis Center, Dr. David Whittman and Dr. Joy Logan, the Valor Hospice staff and VISTOSO FUNERAL HOME. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made directly to the National Kidney Foundation in Tony's name, at http://www.kidney.org/support. You can access www.vistosofuneralhome.com for photos and more. Per Tony's wishes there will not be any services.

I have only just discovered this sad news about Tony.

As well as being a wonderful Boss, we shared many evenings and good laugh-out-loud moments together in Braunschweig all those years ago before we both left Germany but in opposite directions.

My day has just become a little bit heavier with this sad news.

Thanks for the memories which I still have from all those years ago.

Roni and family,
Our condolences and our love. We are at the end of the earth in Punta Arenas, so we cannot be there in person.

God bless his life, and give you strength.
