Anton Ethan "Tony" Ashbacher
Anton "Tony" Ethan Ashbacher 53, formerly of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday August 4, 2009 in Odessa, Texas. Tony was born on May 18, 1956 to Ralph and Eleanor Ashbacher in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He graduated from Douglas MacArthur High School in San Antonio, TX Class of '74. He received a football scholarship to Lamar University in Beaumont, TX. He was a long time employee of Pima Community College in Tucson. Tony enjoyed gardening, fishing, and painting. He was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the University of Arizona Wildcats. Surviving family includes: mother, Eleanor K. Ashbacher, Odessa, TX; siblings, Sharon Little, Odessa, TX, Lester Ashbacher, Denise McCray, Portland, OR, Mike (Dana) Ashbacher, Burleson, TX, Todd Ashbacher, Tucson, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews. Tony was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Ashbacher, and grandparents. "God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arm around you, and whispered, "Come with me." With tearful eyes we watched you suffer, and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, working hands were put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best." A private family service was held on Friday, August 7, 2009. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Arrangements were made by Acres West Funeral Chapel in Odessa, TX.

One of my fondest memories was when 7 friends got together about 17 years ago for a weekend trip to Vegas. Tony was one of them and we had a blast. We rented a limo and Tony rode "shotgun". He even had the driver's hat on. You will truly be missed!

I miss my fishing buddy, but am glad Tony is out of pain. He had the biggest heart of anyone I ever knew. I keep running into people whose lives he touched and who will miss him so much. He was taken early, but lives on in bright memory of the kind and caring friend he was.

Hey Tony,
I miss our cigarette breaks and the wide variety of perspectives we had on many issues. I aleays enjoyed them and and think about them often. I remember you always found ways talking me into Fantasy Baseball and football leagues on line, which of course I never won, because you ran the leagues - LOL. Well hopefully all is goiing well for you now knowing you are in a better place. Tony, you are a great friend with a kind heart and I will always remember you in that way.

Well, so long for now pal, perhaps we will meet again someday.

I'm very sad to hear of Tony's passing. We met in 1985 during nurse's aid training and we became good friends and eventually worked together. I moved away a few years after, and I thought of him often. He was a special person and good friend. One of the biggest hearts of anyone I knew. He was a big Teddy Bear. R.I.P, my friend.

My heart goes out to the Asbacher Family. Tony was a special person, a good friend and co-worker. He made me, laugh even when I tried not to because he was so funny. I will truly miss his spirit. Please know that his memory will never die and I will always remember him. I believe that God knew how tired he was and how much pain he had endured and felt he had had enough. May you and your family be blessed knowing that he touched so many lives.

To Tony's Family:
Our hearts are saddened by the passing of Tony (Big T). Everyone here, at Pima College, will truly miss him. Tony had the kindest heart and was a great friend. I will continue to pray for God to help you through this difficult time. We know Tony is in a better place, free from pain. The pain belongs to those who are left behind, but our memories of Tony will keep him alive forever in our hearts.

May God Bless you and keep you close to His loving heart.
