ARAM MYRON CHOREBANIAN

CHOREBANIAN, Aram Myron "Pop", 88, died January 23, 2018, after a valiant battle with congestive heart failure. Born January 19, 1930 in Lynn, MA to Mihran and Zevart Chorebanian-refugees from the 1915 Armenian Genocide in Turkey-he enjoyed a consummate New England childhood with younger sister, Zarouhi, and graduated from Dartmouth College in 1951.
Volunteering for the US Army during the Korean War, he graduated from Artillery Officer Candidate School and served 23 years in Korea, Dominican Republic (82nd Airborne Division), Vietnam and Germany, with a hiatus for Law School at The University of North Carolina (1963). He became a personnel specialist and was responsible for retention programs across Europe. At his final post in Fort Huachuca, AZ, he ran the Army's transition plan from draft to all-volunteer, though the highlight of those years was performing in local musical productions of "Oliver" (Fagin, alongside daughter Carol as Dodger), "Finian's Rainbow" (Finian), and "Fiddler on the Roof" (Tevye).
Aram retired to Tucson and began a second career as a Realtor (37 years). He was a founding member of the Armenian Cultural Society of Tucson, long-time Rotarian, and choir member at St. Philip's in the Hills. He enjoyed singing Karaoke at Margarita Bay.
Aram is pre-deceased by his wife, Nancy, of 59 years. He leaves behind his current wife, Ann, of Tucson; sister, Zarouhi Newton of Fresno; and children, Gregg Chorebanian of Petaluma (Carol); Mark Chorebanian of Tucson (Elizabeth); Carol Julien of Flagstaff (Mark); Lisa Chorebanian of San Francisco (David); grandchildren, Emily Musta of Flagstaff (Eslir); Adam Julien of Prescott (Jessica); Maddie Armour of San Francisco; and great-grandchildren, Enyeto, Exyn, Reese and Paisley.
Aram's family will celebrate his life Saturday, February 17, 2018, 1:00 p.m. at Villa Hermosa, 6300 E. Speedway Blvd, Tucson.
