Barbara Granatowski Obituary

Barbara Angela (Brown) Granatowski born April 16, 1929 peacefully passed away in the presence of family on January 6, 2011. Barbara a devoted mother and loving wife was the widow of Al Granatowski. She is survived by her four children, Michael, Katherine, Peter, and Laura, 10 grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Barbara was born in West Allis, WI where she married her husband Al and started raising her family. In 1958 they moved to Arizona building a home in Tucson where she continued her devotion to her family. Part of Barbara's involvement with her community was to be very dedicated to the Girl Scouts serving in many capacities. After her family was grown Barbara took a full-time job with the Sahauro Girl Scout Council as a field executive where she recruited leaders and helped form troops throughout Southern Arizona. In 1989 Barbara and Al retired to Show Low, AZ where they had spent many vacations over the years. They enjoyed gardening, fishing, and even some hunting. Barbara and Al became very active in the Show Low Farmers Market and you would find them there every Saturday selling vegetables. She also enjoyed going to the casino and playing the slot machines where she usually had a good run of luck. Barbara will be missed by many for her love of cooking for a crowd. She also had a wonderful gift of story-telling and could amuse her grand-children for hours. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at All Faith's Memorial Park at 2151 South Avenida Los Reyes in Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers please make a contribution in her name to the Alzheimer's Association. Arrangements by HORAN & McCONATY FUNERAL SERVICES.
