Betsy Morrow Obituary

Betsy Millington Morrow passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 15, 2025 at her home in Tucson. Betsy was born in Bloomsburg, PA on May 23,1943 to Harold Millington and Blanche Kostenbauder Millington. Full of fun and spunk from the start, she kept Harold and Blanche on their toes, quickly convincing them she should be an only child. Betsy graduated from Garinger High School in Charlotte, NC and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which anyone who knew her for more than 5 minutes was well aware! It was during her days at the Kappa Kappa Gamma house at Carolina that Betsy became a skilled bridge player, a game which would bring her many friends, some truly great partners and more than one unhappy opponent. During her lifetime, Betsy was an elementary school teacher, an exercise instructor, a gym owner and a committed volunteer, most recently as part of the "Golden Swarm" at Northminster Presbyterian Church, where she lived her unshakeable faith. In 1994, she married James Franklin Morrow, the love of her life, and the over 30 years they spent together were filled with long summers in her happy place in Coronado, world travel, more fun-filled evenings with friends than we can count, several much-loved dogs, and a devotion to college basketball, only causing friction when his Arizona Wildcats took on her Tar Heels. Betsy would tell you that her most important role in life was "mom" and her sons, Brannon and Norris Wiles, never doubted for a moment that they were her proudest achievement. She was a source of inspiration and fun for her beloved granddaughter Dalton Caroline Wiles and a cheerleader and supporter for her daughter-in-law Suzanne Hilser-Wiles, who always knew she won the in-law lottery with Betsy and Jim. Whether in Sabino Canyon with the Walkers and Talkers, at her seat at basketball games, or even just pushing a grocery cart down the aisle, Betsy could often be seen literally dancing through life, inspiring others to join in the joy. In addition to those mentioned, Betsy is survived by several cousins, including her dear Kathy Raio, a multitude of friends from every stage of her life, and a whole army of people whose sobriety and lives she supported through her decades-long involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous. She will be missed dearly by all of them. Memorial gifts may be made to the Tucson Boys Chorus, where Betsy was a mom and a lifelong supporter since. She will be celebrated on Saturday, April 5, with a memorial service at 11:00 am at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 2450 E Fort Lowell Rd, Tucson, followed (at her demand!) by a dance party to be held at 2:00 pm at Tucson Country Club. All who knew and loved Betsy are welcome.

Dear family of Betsy:
I played bridge with Betsy at Streams. I know your grief is hard at this time, but if Betsy knew Jesus as her Lord and Savior, she is in heaven with Him now! And we all can have that assurance, too, if we accept Jesus. My prayers are with you all. Jesus loves you all, and so do I!

Betsy was my AA sponsor for 15 years. She loved to laugh. We worked the program together. Our favorite meeting place for lunch was "Little Anthonys Diner" because we both knew all of the songs. I will miss her very much. She was my guiding light. I picture her as an angel in the middle of a row of Angels, she is the only one dancing!
