Daniel J. REIDY

REIDY, Daniel J. Dan died peacefully of natural causes on April 22, 2018 in Greenville, SC at the age of 88. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Joyce Glover Reidy. He is survived by his beloved Barbara Darwin; his children, Stephen, Michael, Thomas, Rebecca Mashburn, John and Christopher and his siblings, James, Patrick, Mrs. Catherine "Cathy" McCall and Mrs. Roxana "Roxy" Johnson. He leaves 11 grandchildren, Mrs. Rachael Rhodes, Mrs. Jennifer Johnson, Mrs. Karen Steffin, Sarah Mashburn, Mrs. Hannah Koschel, Angelica Reidy, James Reidy, Mrs. Christina Oliveira, Mrs. Stephanie Ludi, Aaron Reidy and Katarina Reidy and nine great-grandchildren, William, Seth, Gabriel and Katherine Rhodes, Chloe and Carson Johnson, Sofia and Analiese Steffin and Kara Reidy. Born February 3, 1930, as a child he lived on the Tortolita foothills homestead of his parents, James and Catherine. He attended Saints Peter and Paul School, was a Tucson Boy's Chorus member, and graduated from Saint Joseph's Military Academy in Hays, Kansas. Dan served as a captain in the U.S. Armored Cavalry during the Korean War. He was a certified public accountant and graduate of the University of Arizona and its College of Law. He was a founding parishioner of Our Mother of Sorrows Church, a CCD catechist and a member of the choir. He was active in the Knights of Columbus and Saint Vincent de Paul Society, a founding board member of the Eastside YMCA/YWCA, and a member of the Optimists, Kiwanis, Rotary, and the Barber Shop Harmony Society. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 11, 2018 at Our Mother of Sorrows Church, 1800 S. Kolb Road, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall and 2:00 p.m. interment at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1300 S. Buffalo Soldier Trail in Sierra Vista. Donations in memory of Dan may be sent to the Saint Vincent de Paul Society at 1800 S. Kolb Road, Tucson AZ 85710.
