Dolores Mejia Obituary

Dolores Vega Mejia 92, born April 13, 1916, in Curcurpé, Sonora, México passed away peacefully on November 17, 2008, surrounded by her loving family and friends. She was a gracious and loving Mother, Sister, Nana, Aunt, Godmother, Cousin and Friend. Preceded in death by her parents, Francisco and Ramona Vega; her husband, Ernesto Sr.; son, Ernesto Jr.; daughter, Christine Lugo and sister, Josefina Quihuis. She is survived by her children, Lillian Garcia, Richard (Monica), Daniel, Eugene Sr. (Karen), Ramona Evanoff (Mark); brothers, Francisco, Guillermo, Ramon Vega; sisters, Teofila Quiroz and Maria Romero; 45 grandchildren, 85 great- grandchildren and 40 great-great- grandchildren. Our mother had a beautiful smile that would light up any room. Her greatest devotion and love for God and her passion for the Rosary made her our greatest intercessor in prayer in our time of need. She looked forward to cooking lunch everyday and visiting with her friends, especially the many squads of police officers that she fed and met throughout the years. She was a loving and caring Nana that helped raise many of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren throughout her years. Special Thanks to our sisters, Lilly, Mona and our niece, Diane who took on a major role in making our mom comfortable, the super doctors and nurses at the St. Mary's ER and 4th floor nursing staff and the Odyssey Hospice Home Care staff. We ask that if our mother touched your lives in any manner to recognize her with a donation in her name to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church for the church expansion project, this would honor our family's faith in Jesus Christ. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2008, 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., with Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., at CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY (South Chapel), 240 S. Stone Ave. Mass will be offered Saturday, November 22, 2008, 10:30 a.m., at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Holy Hope Cemetery. Arrangements by CARRILLO'S TUCSON MORTUARY, INC.

Nana,
My fondest memory of you telling my girls (Heli & Ariana)and I, the story about the time when you watched my girls for me when they were little. Ariana was sitting too close to the TV and you told her to move back some. Ariana turned around and said, "Don't you tell me what to do." You told me that you were not surprised by the remark, you just didn't think that Ariana could talk because she has always been very petite. Remembering this story always brings me laughter. Once again, I ask that you watch over my daughters for me. Love, Tricia Mejia

To the Mejia Family,
The day I heard of your dear mother passing I mourned. I remember the times when I was in her home or talking to her at some family gathering and the kindness she had toward others. Memories of years past came to mind and how blessed I am to have known her. I wish I could be there with you all in this time of rememberence. God is with you and will keep you in His comfort.
Love, Richard.

Mona, Lilly and family. My deepest condolences to you and your family. I remember her friendly welcome smile always. You were fortunate to have had a wonderful and beautiful mother. She is now safe in the arms of Jesus, safe on His loving breast. RIP Mrs. Mejia. You are now joined with your children in Heaven. Hug Chris for me and tell her the letter she wrote me about Gabe meant more than words can say. She was a blessing too. God Bless you.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Mejia Family,
Condolences on the loss of your mother, nana, tia, family member. If her children are a reflection of who she was, then I feel like I already met her. Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to meet her, but knew both Ernie & Gene. May her memories keep you happy.
