Don Switzer

SWITZER, Don Derrer, Jr.
70, passed on from this life April 4, 2017 at his home in Tucson, Arizona.
Born in Tucson, Arizona to Don and Patria Switzer, Don Jr. is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Susan Switzer; son, Don (Ginger) Switzer III; son, Clayton Switzer and daughter, Sabra (Alex) Oliver. Don was the proud grandfather of two grandchildren, Brittani and Daxton.
Don was a strong role model and mentor to his children, always ready to help others and selflessly provided for his family. He served his country and was a proud veteran of the US Navy. A gifted craftsman, welder and mechanic, he had incredible skill in working with his hands. He carefully designed and meticulously built two hot rods that he enjoyed for years together with his wife Susie, making some dear and lasting friendships over those many miles of "rod runs". One of his favorite stories was retelling the adventure of driving his custom 1930 Model A Ford from Arizona to Maine for fresh lobster upon his retirement. Don also had a love for the water and was able to spend his last summer enjoying those beautiful Arizona sunsets from the deck of his houseboat with Susie and best-pal (dog) Buddy.
To say he will be missed is an understatement, but his memory, love and lessons live on in those of us that follow in his footsteps.
