Drew Swanson Obituary

Drew Swanson passed away on April 24, 2025, in his hometown of Tucson, Arizona. He was a devoted father, loyal husband, caring son, beloved brother, and steadfast friend. Drew's sudden passing leaves a deep sadness in the hearts of those who knew him. Born on May 27, 1982, in Tucson to Gary and Joy (Rauscher) Swanson. He graduated from Catalina Foothills HS. Drew's sense of humor, intelligence, and big-hearted spirit defined him personally and professionally. Throughout his twenty-year career in real estate as an Associate Broker, Drew took great pride in helping families find their homes, always treating clients like lifelong friends.

The Swansons came to Tucson in the 1940s, the Rauscher family in the 1920s. Drew was quite proud of his father's work on the huge La Paloma development project in the 1980s.

Drew met his wife Andrea in the 5th grade. They reconnected in their 20s, becoming best friends and sharing a deep love for one another, which culminated in the birth of their beautiful daughter. The greatest joy in Drew's life was his daughter, Sophia. His love for her was pure, unconditional, and enduring. Drew's true essence was humility, kindness, and selflessness. He was the first to offer a helping hand and the last to speak ill of anyone. He loved nature, dogs, the ocean, hiking, playing board games with Sophia, enjoying 70's, '80s, 90's music, Wildcat sports, burritos, and most of all, being with his family and friends. His absence is profound, but his presence will echo forever in our stories, our hearts, and our lives.

Drew is preceded in death by his father, Gary, grandparents, and several beloved aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife, Andrea Decker Swanson; daughter, Sophia Swanson; mother, Joy Swanson; and brother, Jared Swanson. He is also survived by his in-laws, Lucia, Steve, and Kevin Gibson, as well as many heartbroken aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. It is with profound gratitude that in our lives we've been deeply touched by Drew Swanson, a man with a big heart, who was much loved, and will always be remembered.

A Mass will be offered Monday, May 26th at 10 a.m. at St Thomas the Apostle Church, 5150 N Valley View Rd.., Tucson. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:30 p.m. at The Grand Tucson at 33 S. 6th Ave. A private Burial will take place at Holy Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up to assist the family.

I remember Drew growing up in my neighborhood as I was best friends with his mother. He was such a darling boy and so full of life. He loved sports and was very kind and well mannered.

Drew was an exceptional person; a close friend of our son Jeremy since childhood days; a person with a gifted personality, good manners, a bright smile and someone you became attached to immediately.
This is so sad and we will miss him tremendously.
