Emilio Cadamagnani Obituary

Emilio Joseph Cadamagnani died peacefully on October 5, 2011 at the age of 98 in Tucson. The oldest son of Angelina and Giuseppe Cadamagnani, he was born in Clinton, Indiana on February 28, 1913. Despite great adversity in his early childhood, he realized the American dream that his Italian immigrant parents envisioned. He left Clinton in his twenties for Highwood, Illinois where he met his future wife, Helen Gibertini. After serving in the Army during World War II, they were married at St. James Church in 1945. He attended Loyola University in Chicago on the GI Bill and graduated in 1952. Emilio and Helen had six children together. For most of his career, Emilio was President of Kleinschmidt Laboratories in Deerfield and Executive Vice President of its parent company, Smith Corona, travelling the world to introduce a new age of communication technology. He also served on the Highland Park School Board in the 1960 and 70's. Emilio retired from Kleinschmidt in the early 1970's and was able to finally enjoy some of his favorite things: giving back to the community, tending his gardens, listening to classical music, reading philosophy and fighting city hall. The family moved to Tucson in 1977 where Emilio enjoyed a longer growing season, a new church (St. Francis de Sales) to which he devoted countless volunteer hours, the Wildcats, spending time with family and friends and fighting city hall. Emilio is preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, Helen; sister, Mary and brother, Joseph. He is survived by his children, Paul (Sue), Fred (Pam), Mark (Carylinda), Mary (Larry), Cathy (Matt) and Tom and seven grandchildren. Emilio's family wishes to thank his loving caregivers at Catalina Foothills Adult Care. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Francis de Sales on Saturday, October 8, 2011 Viewing at 9:00 a.m. and Services at 10:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. reception to follow at Cadamagnani family home. Donations may be made to Girls Education International (www.girlsed.org). Arrangements by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway.

So sorry on the loss of dear Emilio. I always enjoyed listening to his words of wisdom in my years at St. Francis De Sales. My mother enjoyed talking with him and his wife Helen. Mom called Helen
"Mrs. Manicotti" and when she'd hear that she knew who was calling.
Said "My nephew calls me 'Auntie Pasta". Have often told people how Emilio said that he went to confession once ot Padre Pio now a Saint.
Our sympathies to the Cadamagnani family. Helen and Fr. Jim Modeen

Dear Cadamagnani Family: There are no words to express my feelings about Emilio. He was one of a kind, a man of integrity, deep faith, love for his famiy, community and country. He and Helen together made a great team...He added many happy times to my life the 19 years I worked at St. Francis de Sales, and especially when he worked on the Christmas manger set up in the church. Emilio, may God reward you for being a "good and faithful" servant. Love and prayers to your family.
