My prayers to your family after all these years, but I grew up with many stories about "Gene" Borowski from my father, Richard "Dick" Nowack of Chicago, IL. My father and "Borowski" were high school buddies at Von Steuben, Chicago and beyond. My father has been gone for some years now but I still remember his fondness and pride in his friendship with "Gene" and I know they are both "flying high" wherever they may be now.

Carol and family,

I was deeply saddened to hear that "The Boss" is golfing with Christ! We will all miss him so very much. He was a GREAT Air Force Officer. Both of you had such huge and profound impact on Leanne and I. After leaving Guam, all I wanted to do was someday be a Commander - it was easy after having a mentor, friend, and Commander such as "The Boss." Guam was a terrific assignment - Typhoon, earthquake, "circling the wagons" - memories that will live on. Both of you touched so many Air Force families - and you left your imprint on us that we might share with others. Our nation, our Armed Forces, and our family are so very appreciative of your service and friendship. Come see us in San Antonio!

Carol and family--we're not sure if you remember us, but we knew you in Tucson. We thought so highly of Gene--he was a charismatic person and just a good person. Our heartfelt thoughts are with you. We now live in the Black Hills of South Dakota. Dustin, our son, is now 23, and we have a photo of you and Gene holding Dustin when he was about 3 weeks old! Our best to you all.

Mrs. Borowski, this is Fred Rew, hope you remember me! I sure do remember you and Col. Borowski as well as David, Michelle and Liz.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I have so many found memories of our time together on Guam. In particular I can remember talking to your husband about engineering one night after Typhoon Pamela when nobody had electricity and we all sat outside eating food cooked on the grill before it spoiled. I think those early discussions about engineering sparked my interest in the career field. I hope I have a chance to see you all again but in the mean time I pray that God comforts you and your family during these hard days. In the years to come I hope that the families I cross paths with will one day look back and remember me and my family as lovingly as I remember you, your husband and your wonderful family.

God Bless you all.

Love, Fred, Paige, James, Will, Mark and Elizabeth (Yes, I too have an Elizabeth and when we meet again remind me to tell your Liz about how the time she spent on White Rock with my sister Maureen meant so much to her in her time of need!)
