Grandma Evy has been for over 4 months now, it still doesn't seem real. I am fortunate enough to look at the mountains near her home at the base of the Catalina Mountains every day. I often smile at remembering her and grandpa Art's love for the saguaro cacti when driving through the monument and how proud they were of having them on their property. Many remembrances pop up when I least expect it. I know many loved ones and friends carry special memories that will have to last until we see her again. I am so thankful that she is with the Lord and her loved ones, waiting to say "I told you so" that Jesus is real. My love to those who mourn the loss of her, and celebrate her life.

My name is Judith Lynne Thomas-Johnston.
Evy is my mom's 2ND cousin.I reconnected with Evy after I was ordained in our home church in 1996 here in California. My family left Cheyenne in 1952. I saw Evy for the last time in the early 1950's. Her letters of encouragement started arriving after my husband had 2 hemorrhagic bleeds to the right side of his brain. Her love and faith were so welcome to us both. I never made it to Tucson to see her much to my regret. My grandmother, mother and sister all passed in their late 40's, early fifties. In our letters we often remarked how happy Heaven must be with all of our loved ones together there ! Now she is in the light of the Christ and bathed in the family love she so missed. I'm 70 and will look for dearest Evy, Verna, Dodie, my grandma Sadie, my mother Flo and my sister Patti in that warm, loving light as I pass over from this wonderful life into eternity. God rest her beautiful soul. May all of her friends and family be comforted in this time of loss. She was always an angel in disguise and she now has her wings and job watching over all of us. I miss those lovely letters.

Evy was the angel sent down to me from heaven after my father was killed and my mom had to return to work to provide for my brother and I. Evy took care of me at a time when my own mother couldn't be there. Her love and caring were the foundation of my being. I credit her with giving me a head start in life. Our bond was very deep and will last forever.
