Fay Brett Obituary

BRETT, Fay, born September 29, 1919 in Manhattan, New York City, New York to Morris and Ida (Fingerhut) Cohen (aka Montel), the nest to youngest of six children, departed this life on February 24, 2007. She married Hyman Brett (Brettschneider), September 17, 1939 in Jersey City, New Jersey. To this happy union two sons were born, Arthur and Martin. The family moved from New York City to Tucson, AZ in 1953. Together Hy and Fay raised their family and built a business, Mr Brett Furs and Fashions, operating their store for more than thirty years. Hy, being a skilled furrier, and Fay, having a great fashion and business sense, made a great team in both business and life. Her skill as a business woman was outshined only by her great devotion to family. She has left with us still remaining the strong value of family, a great appreciation for the joys of life, and the ability to look on the bright side of life's tribulations. Her favorite saying was "when life hands you lemons, you make lemonade". She certainly achieved this and lived her life with joy and grace. She will be greatly missed. Fay is survived by her son, Martin (Diane), Arthur's widow, Jane; her grandchildren, Robert, Sheri, Tony, Joshua, and Jesse; step-grandchildren, Colleen and Chris; five great grandchildren; sister in law, Ethel (Alvin); and many nieces and nephews. Fay (Feygele meaning "little bird" in Yiddish) has flown from this earth to be with her loved ones already passed on and her maker where she will be watching over us still here on earth. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Hy, of 56 years in Evergreen Cemetery in Tucson, AZ on Monday, February 26, 2007 at noon. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.
