George Corona Obituary

George R. Corona 71, passed away on April 5, 2011. George was born December 3, 1939 in Litchfield Park, Arizona to Sebastian and Ernestina Ramos Corona. George worked as a pipefitter for Magma Copper for 32 years and served as President of the Steel Workers Union. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Cade and brother, Frank Corona. He is survived by his wife, Marta and three children, George Jr. (Lydia), Angel (Barbara) and Marlo; five grandchildren, Steven, Paige, Kenny, Jarrod and Alexa; mother, Ernestina Corona; ten brothers, Sebastian (Vangie), Gus (Martha), Gilbert (Mary), Joe (Virginia), Manny (Linda), Willie, Lorenzo (Evelia), Alfredo (Noreen), Richard (Linda) and Victor (Stephanie); five sisters, Rosie Arrechederra, Lupe Corona, Irene (George) Flores, Tina Vera and Victoria (Hank) Leon. His hobbies included golfing, fishing and gardening and spending quality time with his loved ones. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday April 9, 2011 at Tanque Verde Lutheran Church, 8625 E. Tanque Verde Road. Arrangements by HEATHER MORTUARY.

George touched a lot of lives..he was a good friend to my husband and myself in the 60's & 70's in Catalina. I am very sorry to read in the paper that he is no longer with us. My sympathy to his family & friends.

I worked with George at Magma Copper Co. as a pipe-fitter. I learned quite a bit from George about what is important in life. First came his children and wife.Honor and integrity were all a man had. George always tried to do the right thing. His children must be proud to have had him as their father.
