Gillian Margaret Weaver

Gillian Margaret (Hedges) Weaver was born 20 June 1934 in Portsmouth, Hampshire, U.K. She died 11 October 2009 in Tucson, AZ, of complications from cancer. During her life, Gillian was a successful hotelier and, together with her husband, owned and developed the Newtown House Hotel of Hayling Island, Hampshire, which they sold in 1985 when they retired. In 2003, Gillian and her husband moved to Oro Valley, AZ, where she pursued her hobbies of golf and bridge. Gillian is survived by her husband, William, and a son, Brett, and his partner, Linda Smith, of Oro Valley, AZ, and Ellis, KS. Other surviving family include her sister, Patricia Benton, Hayling, Island, Hampshire; and sister-in-law Vivian Kardaras Weaver, New York, NY. In 2001, Gillian was preceded in death by her daughter, Victoria, who also died on October 11 of cancer, and she was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Richard Weaver, in 2005. Two Memorial Services will celebrate Gillian's life; one in the United Kingdom, and one in the United States. The first service will be held in Tucson, AZ, Saturday, October 24, 2009, 11:00 a.m., at Christ the King Episcopal Church, 2800 W. Ina Road. Memorials for Gillian Weaver may be made to her life-long charity, L'Arche, an international community that provides homes for disabled people.
