Darling Jim,
Today marks three years since you took your final breath on earth. As I was coming home from Phoenix this evening, I heard Anne Murray's "Can I Have this Dance for the Rest of My Life" . . . I miss you so!
Also today, Dr. Gaul has been gone 18 months - just as long as you had preceded him.
My Aunt Mary, my Uncle Bob, my cousin "Chip" (we named Leslie in honor of him), George Pavey's mom, and your sister Barbara each joined you this year. Chip's death was the hardest: such a shock -- really took me by surprise. They moved my Auntie Ann back to Tucson, since Chip was no longer there to care for her. She is in an assisted living facility not far from Odyssey.
Luke is competing in High School Rodeo this year -- he loved being a "wild cow man" this summer. Luke came in first and second in the rescue riding competition (with two different partners) at Old Congress Days! The Lazy JY brand certificate is on his wall! Lily continues to excel: she is already taking a class from Yavapai College (Chemistry -- Leslie and John are in the same class); she had straight A's last school year. Lily has a horse and is even trying her hand at horseshoeing. Leslie and John are doing great. John's dad has been quite ill and lives with them now. Nothing like on the job training for a nurse! Tomorrow she takes her admission test for the Nursing program at Yavapai College. I think I have found a way to contact Jamie through the Internet! Terry has faced health challenges this year, but seems to be on the mend. CJ is married now to Lindsey. Toby seems to enjoy California life!
Much love,
Joanie

Jim, my dearest -
This has been a busy week: Leslie turned 18 on Tuesday, once again we shared being together at 3:44 p.m.! Yesterday, Leslie and John were married at the park. They chose the place where we held your memorial in Congress. Your brown treasure chest held the cards from guests. The event turned out well, especially for having less than 11 days to pull it all together!
Luke spent the summer cowboying in Wyoming -- sound familiar? He had a custom pair of batwing chaps made at Ben's. Lily is becoming such a confident, compassionate, smart young lady. Leslie is in pre-nursing at Yavapai college. I still have not been able to locate Jamie. Terry, CJ, and Toby are busy with their lives -- we are waiting to hear about a wedding or two from them, too.
I'm back in school - gerontology - at Yavapai College in Prescott - I get to talk about you each Tuesday and Thursday!!! We learned so much together. I miss you sooooooo much.
All my love, Joanie

Dearest Jim --
Again I write of loss to our earthly family -- Holly, your first-born, was released from her suffering on your 81st birthday. Fathers and daughters have such a special bond! Your connection with each of your children is precious and unique.
None of this is news to you, I realize!
I love you and miss you! I'll add pictures of you and Holly (and some of the rest of us) soon.
