James Malone Obituary

James E. Malone 5/23/1942 – 8/10/2013 The world just lost a beautiful man. His family lost a "rock". His friends lost a heart of gold, which can never be replaced. Jim entered the hospital on February 22, expecting a three day stay, instead, fought a valiant six month fight for life. During his last week of life he was surrounded by his precious children, family and friends 24 hours a day. His room was filled with nothing but love and laughter. Jim was born in Chicago to parents John and Alice Malone and moved to Tucson at age one. He was sure that qualified him a native. Jim received his "PHD" from Pueblo High School where not only was he a scholar, but also a State Championship Swimmer earning numerous 1st place trophies. After graduation, he joined the Navy where he was also a Championship Swimmer for the U.S. Navy Swim Team. Jim was assigned to ABC Warfare School where he unknowingly was used to test effects of chemicals on humans. He served his country well. After the Navy, he went on to an adventurous life which ultimately led him to become known as an "entrepreneur". He traveled the U.S. working from coast to coast. Jim worked as a personal assistant/body guard to Liberace while in California, then onto construction in Massachusetts, finally working his way back to Tucson. He loved working in the movie industry where he met wonderful people, worked long days, and traveled the southwest. Jim was a devoted son to his parents, giving up his personal life to become caretaker to them both. They spent their last years surrounded by his dedication and love. He was absolutely adored by his sisters, Jane Kereny and Judi Montcalm. He was, their best friend. He was the greatest Uncle on earth to nieces, Monique and Michelle Montcalm, Theresa Kereny and nephews, Tim and Kevin Kereny. Jim also leaves behind his special friend/buddy, brother-in-law, Rene Montcalm. The most wonderful things in his life and what he lived for, were his children. His beautiful and cherished daughter, Cinnamin (Cindy) Jade Malone of Chicago, Il and his "handsome" and treasured son, John Joseph Malone from Little Rock, AR. Jim was also blessed with a magnificent daughter-in-law, Tiffany Malone who with John gave him the most blessed gift a child can give a parent, a granddaughter, Millie Jade Malone. After Millie was born, his nieces and nephew started calling him Uncle Grandpa. He just loved that name. Oh my, he was so proud of his children, just ask his family and friends. They all knew about Cindy and her travels and John and his adventures. All in All, if you knew Jim, you loved him. If you didn't know him, you really missed meeting the most beautiful man on earth. A very special thank you to the beloved staff of the SDU/ICU at the VA, where Jim lived for six months and to all the wonderful friends who visited him so often during his stay especially the last week. To dear, dear J.T., (Jim Tallmadge), who hardly left his side the last week, welcome to our family. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his nephew, Kevin and brother-in-law, Tom Kereny. Graveside Services will be held at East Lawn, on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, Kolb/29th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Silver Towers Camp, a summer camp for mentally challenged and disabled adults: Silver Towers Camp c/o Joe Montcalm, P.O. Box 416, Shantee Point, St. Albans Bay, VT 05481.

Dear Judi,Rene,Janie,Monique and Michelle:
I was so saddened by Jimmy's passing. Needless to say, our childhood capers are unforgettable. The memories of growing up together are very fond ones and will always be a part of me. Jimmy was so kind to always check on Mom to see if she was okay and needed anything, and if she did, he was "Jimmy On The Spot". His kindness and concern will always be appreciated.
My heartfelt sympathy go out to each of you.
With Love,
Jeri Linehan

Judi,

What a beautiful writeup for such a handsome and happy person. May God Bless his soul and you his sisters. Judi, your parents must have been very loving and thoughtful to have raised such giving and caring children. I always remember how thoughtful you were to me in junior high when you offered me a winter coat to wear. I will never forget that token of kindness.

I am so very sorry for the loss of this very dear man! I was a neighbor down the street to Janey, I babysat her kids, so I am sure over the years, that I must have met Jim. From reading about him, he was a joy to the world! May your hearts be filled with the wonderful memories you have. He is with GOD and those loved ones that passed before him! Our prayers are with you!

This is such a nice obituary for a deserving person.

Jimbo, yes, we called him Jimbo. I had forgotten about his nickname until I read the previous entry. It's been so many years since I heard him called Jimbo.

Jim & I go way back to Pueblo Gardens days and high school. Even though he was 2 years ahead of me, we knew each other through Butch Mills, Eddie Linehan & others.

I ran into Jim all over this town. We had many long conversations, even a 2 hour one after his mother's passing. I saw him last at Safeway on Broadway and that must have been just before he entered the hospital. I'm sorry I didn't know about him being in the hospital as I would have gone to see him.

Then, I would run into him at dart events when he went to visit old friends from years back.

I truly was in shock when I saw his obituary early this morning. I sat & remembered all our conversations over the years.

He was such a nice acquaintance and one I will never forget.
