Jean Bronson Obituary

11/3/1934 - 11/6/2025

Jean C. Bronson died of cancer in Tucson, AZ on November 6, 2025, just after her 91st birthday. She was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on November 3, 1934, the oldest daughter of Edgar Floyd and Sylvia Ruth Forrester (Nee Kimrey). She was active in the civil rights movement in Arkansas in the 1950's, in prison reform, and, more recently, in humane border initiatives in Arizona. Her life also embraced a wide range of international experience, traveling with her husband George who managed construction projects in Saudi Arabia, Zaier (Congo), Iraq, the Philippines, Spain, and elsewhere. A natural leader and counselor, she advocated for women's rights by example, working steadfastly for just causes and Democratic campaigns. A dedicated Christian woman, she helped all those who knew her to find their better selves. She embraced the natural order of the universe, finding solace in the formation of clouds, and in the flora and fauna of her environs. Her humble creed was Stardust to Stardust!

She is survived by sister Kay L. Sellens and brother Kim C. Forrester (with Debra Forrester); by daughters Pamela Spears (with Anthony Spears), Sherrilynn James (with F.W. "Jesse" James) and grandsons Jayson and Justin James (with Hanna Roen) and great-granddaughter Willa Roen-James; and by Carolyn M. Adkins (with Tommy Adkins); also by Joe D Seger, her companion in life through her latest years. She was predeceased by George Bronson (1935-1998) and by Grandson Larry Gordon (1982-1991). Memorial gifts should be directed to charities of choice. A gathering in remembrance is being planned.
