Jesus Quintero Obituary

Jesus Rodriguez Quintero 12/18/1940 - 05/9/2014 Jesus passed away due to Alzheimer's Disease. Jesus is survived by his wife, Karen, and his children, Tony, Cyndi, Arnold, Beth and Lori. He is also survived by his brothers, John and Frank; and his sisters, Beatrice, Yolanda, Gloria and Martha. After graduating from high school in Toltec, Jesus made Tucson his home, living here for his entire lifetime. Jesus married his first wife, Nancy, in the early 60's and raised Cyndi and Tony up until the 80's. During the 70's, he began working for Standard Brands paint and home improvement store on Broadway and through hard work, professional expertise and a desire to always do his very best, Jesus earned a legendary reputation as a man who always knew everything about the products he sold and always had a warm smile and helpful attitude for every one of his customers. Everywhere he went in Tucson, Jesus would always be recognized by someone who appreciated his help and advice and friendly manner. The 80's brought big changes to Jesus' life - after his divorce from Nancy, he set about creating an extended family with the love of his life, Karen, and her children, Arnold, Beth and Lori. Blending the kids from two marriages into a single family was a challenge that he worked hard to achieve and took great pride in. For Jesus, his family was always the greatest source of his strength, hopes, dreams and passions. Jesus loved to laugh and loved making others laugh even more. He loved to work and would always determine his success on the job by the satisfaction of his clients. Jesus loved to travel and discover new places - he was an avid outdoorsman and was always taking little camping trips with his wife and family, enjoying time hunting, fishing, hiking and boating. His travels would take him from coast to coast, from the Great Lakes to the Gulf of Mexico and across the Atlantic to the shores of England, but he seemed just as happy walking around Patagonia Lake or just enjoying a beer in his own backyard, watching his koi swim to the surface of the pond he built just for them. Jesus loved animals of all kinds and could literally coax his turtle, Klinger, right out of his shell for a playful moment. Jesus preferred the company of loved ones to solitude - the only time he ever seemed to enjoy being alone was while he was working and would whistle his favorite songs to pass that time along - for a man who could only hear with one ear, he could recreate music wonderfully. Jesus was a jack-of-all-trades, a skilled craftsman and a handyman with few peers. Jesus was a cardshark, a coin collector and a competitive sportsman who shook your hand with respect, no matter who won. Jesus was more spiritual than religious, more compassionate than controlling and more generous than frugal. Jesus was a loving husband, a beloved father, an adored brother and uncle and a doting step-grandfather. Jesus gave away more than he received, always did more than he was expected to, and was loved and will be missed far more than he ever could have imagined.

He taught me how to whistle, how to ride a bike, how to fish, how to drive and how to fix stuff. He also taught me how to laugh, how to love, how to live and how to be a man. Jesus was my father and the only guy that ever came close to being my hero. I Love You Dad.

Jesus was one of those people that you meet in life and never forget. A positive influence that taught a young man the power of kindness and hard work. The world has a little less color without him in it and his influence will always be a part of me.
