Joseph SANTORO Obituary

SANTORO, Joseph William was born December 7, 1930, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and passed away on June 6, 2017, in Tucson, AZ. Our father, ever the patriot, would appreciate the significance of these dates - Pearl Harbor Day and D-Day. Joseph was the only child of Joseph and Pauline Santoro and grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from the University of Florida and was a lifelong Gator fan. His degree was in accounting and he proudly served in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He continued working for Civil Service and retired from his second career at Offutt Air Force Base, Bellevue, Nebraska. Joseph's greatest role was serving as the faithful husband to his beloved wife of 62 years, Martha Elaine Santoro, who predeceased him in 2015. Joseph is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Lynda Santoro of Scottsdale, AZ; daughter, Catherine Comstock, of Tucson, AZ; grandsons, William Santoro of Leawood, KS, Robert Santoro of Cave Creek, AZ, Joseph (Katy) Comstock of Vail, AZ, granddaughter, Bethany Comstock of Wappinger Falls, NY, and great-granddaughter, Dakota Comstock, of Vail, AZ. Funeral Services will be held at EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 2:00 p.m.

Although I did not see them often because of the distance, I was very fond of Uncle Joe and Aunt Elaine. I particularly was grateful for Uncle Joe and his kindness and faithfulness in keeping in touch with our mother in the later years of her life. He always brought a smile to her face when he called. My thoughts and prayers go out to Joe and Cathy and your families. Nan

Cathy and family, I am so sorry for this tremendous loss to all of you. Your father was clearly an impressive man who raised together with his wife a terrific family who follow in his footsteps in serving the country. His life was clearly blessed and you were so fortunate to have him so long.
