Loren R. WOERNER

WOERNER, Loren R. 11/24/29 - 1/3/2018 Beloved husband of Marilyn Sue Woerner, he was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Robert and Dorothy Woerner. Loren graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, Indianapolis, then went on to earn a B.S. in Pharmacy from Butler University in 1951. From 1951 - 1953 Loren was a registered Pharmacist in the U.S. Army, stationed at Fort Knox, KY and Camp Hanford, WA. Loren then returned to Indianapolis and served as a Pharmacist at Bryan Drugstore, where he met his future wife. Loren and Sue were married on April 28, 1956 at Olive Branch Christian Church, Indianapolis. In August of 1954, Loren was hired by Sharp and Dohme, Inc., which eventually merged with Merck. Over his 36 years with Merck, Loren moved steadily up the corporate ladder, retiring in 1990 as Executive Director of Field Operations, where he supervised over 1,000 sales managers and sales representatives. During Loren's career, he and Sue lived in Indianapolis, IN, Albany, NY, Philadelphia, PA (three times), Columbus, OH and Los Angeles, CA. In 1990, he and Sue retired to Tucson, AZ. During his retirement, Loren volunteered at SCORE, among other organizations, and served Saguaro Christian Church on numerous boards and committees. Loren was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sue, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Virginia Bond and his nephew, Michael Yarian. He is survived by his nieces, Paula Yarian of Noblesville, IN and Kim (Bill) Yarian of Avon, IN; his nephew, Greg (Larry Lesniewski) Bond of Barrington, IL; and his great-niece, Elizabeth (Anthony) Tharp; and great-great- nephew, Reed Tharp of Avon, IN. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Saguaro Christian Church, 8302 E. Broadway, Tucson, AZ 85710 (520-296-5901). In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions can be made to Saguaro Christian Church or the Square and Compass Children's Clinic at Tucson Memorial Hospital. Arrangements by BRING'S FUNERAL HOME.
