Opal Pool Obituary

Opal Christine Pool was born January 20, 1913 in Hugo, Oklahoma to Marvin and Minnie Rucker. She went to be with the Lord February 7, 2010 having reached her 97th birthday. She spent her childhood in the Norman, OK area and later moved to Yuma, AZ where she attended High School and later became a telephone operator. Through a friend she met and married her first love, J.G. Pace. They had two children, Ronnie and Jolene. After his untimely death in 1945 Opal worked as a draftsman for the Gila Valley/Wellton Reclamation Project. In 1951 she married Gordon E. Pool and moved to Roswell, N.M. where they operated a motel and grocery store. Their daughter Judy was born there in 1953. They later moved to Marionville, MO where they operated a dairy farm. After Mr. Pool passed away in 1990, Opal returned to her "beloved Arizona" where she lived until going to her Eternal Home. During her lifetime, Opal produced many beautiful acrylic paintings and took great pride in her sewing projects, which included delicate needlework. She was a great cook and devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother. Preceded in death by her parents, both husbands and sister, Oleta Doyal. She is survived by sister, Helen Robinette and three children, James Ronald Pace (Barbara), Helen Jolene Wischhof (Don), Judith Lynn Beauchamp (Glenn); six grandchildren, Daniel Wischhof (Tina), Diane Greene, Aaron Hauck, Allison Hauck, Jim Pace and Nancy Pace; six great-grandchildren, Cynthia Palmer, Nic Van Sickle, Angelica Greene, Nick Katie and Lauren Ferrel and great-great-grandsons, C.J. Palmer and Sebastiane Megariz. Also surviving are three stepchildren, John Pool (Rosemary), Clara Mae Morris and June Schrishulm; their children and grandchildren. She also leaves nephew, Bart (Georgia) and nieces, Terry and Elaine; cousins, Pam, Bobbeye and Richard and special friends, Liz Terri, Virginia, Joan and Bonnie. We would also like to thank Andrea, Daisy and Janet of Shiloh Place Assisted Living and TMC Hospice caregivers for their loving care of our Mother. Graveside Services will be held at East Lawn Cemetery, 5801 E. Grant Rd. at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 10, 2010.
