Patsy Beattie Obituary

Patsy Beattie left this world February 27, 2010, in Tucson, Arizona, after 86 wondrous years. Born Pasty Jean McCauley in Boulder, CO. on January 10, 1924, she was one of seven children. She graduated from Boulder High School in 1941, and from the University of Colorado College of Music in 1945 with honors as a pianist. Patsy married Lyle Beattie on February 19, 1944 and together they rejoiced celebrating their 66th anniversary. With their growing family, they moved to Glenwood Springs, CO. in 1953, their home for 43 years. She was constantly in demand as a performer, accompanist and teacher of piano. She was a proud member of PEO and a wonderful golfer. She loved flower gardening, needlepoint, knitting and beading. Patsy and Lyle began wintering in Arizona in 1980, and located in 1996 as residents of Oro Valley. They have been members of Oro Valley Country Club for 30 years. She loved her family which consisted of four children, Steve Beattie (Sharon), Lorie Courier (John), Kerry Smith (Steve), and Brent Beattie; her seven grandchildren and their spouses; one great-granddaughter; and a soon expected great-grandson. A Celebration of Patsy's life will be held at Oro Valley Country Club on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. All her friends are welcome. A Service will be held later in Colorado. To the entire Beattie family:
We had the pleasure of being introduced to Patsy by her son, Steve. From the moment we met her, we were never strangers. Instead, Patsy (and Lyle) treated us as family and welcomed us into their home. She was such a beautiful, talented and gracious lady and she had a smile that was so contagious. Our most fondest memory of Patsy will be the time we (Lyle, Patsy, Steve, Sherry and us) were sitting on her patio, after a round of golf at the Oro Valley Country Club. The sun was about to set, there was a nice cloud cover in the sky and Tucson was about ready to experience yet another gorgeous sunset. Patsy stood up, looked back at the Catalina Mountains and said " When the mountains turn pink, it's time to drink !, What can I get you?". How could you not love this lady?
Patsy will be deeply missed by us. Tonight we will pour ourselves a drink and toast one to Patsy for bringing such color into our lives. God Bless her.

Patsy was an accomplished needle artist and became a treasured member of our Busy Needle family here in Tucson. All of us will miss Patsy's smile, her fiesty personality and her cheery nature. Condolences to all of Patsy's friends and family. She will always be remembered in our hearts.
