Patsy Spalding Obituary

"I grew up in a little cow town in Texas," Patsy Spalding was fond of saying. "No one ever moved in and no one ever moved out." She, however, did. And with a love of history, boundless energy, insatiable curiosity, and an ever-patient husband, Patsy explored the world. Among different people of diverse cultures and customs, be they farmers or diplomats, scavengers or shopkeepers, all were treated with respect, kindness, and smiles.

Born in 1926, she was married to her high school sweetheart, Clyde Spalding, for 65 years. After Clyde's passing in 2007, Patsy moved to Tucson and lived in a guesthouse on her son Randy's property. She loved to travel, go trout fishing, play Bridge, dance, and visit with friends. She was always a great beauty, and her laughter and smile were contagious. Patsy was fun, spirited, and lived her 99 years to the fullest. "Couldn't be better," was one of her most frequent remarks.

She is survived by sons Michael (Teresa) and Randy (James Cook), three grandchildren, a great-grandson, five great-great-grandchildren, and many loving friends from around the world. Patsy was predeceased by her husband Clyde, son Milton, and granddaughter Melissa. Her family extends heartfelt thanks to the angels at Arizona Homestead for their incredible care and love.

Patsy was a gift to all that knew her, and her loving playful spirit will be with us forever.

Patsy, the world will be just a little bit darker without you in it. We have rarely known a kinder, funnier, more welcoming human being and we will miss you every day. Much love to Randy and Jim, and to dozens of your "adopted family members."
