Peter Bennett Obituary

Peter St. Clair Bennett February 1, 1934 - January 31, 2008 Extraordinary man who lived a remarkable life. His love of science, especially nature and all its wonders, developed at an early age and led him to his over 35-year career with the National Park Service as a research scientist. His passion for life extended well beyond science as he pursued in-depth knowledge of music, art, Chinese philosphy, steam locomotives, travel, astronomy, poetry, and roosters. He viewed the world as his classroom and inspired everyone he met to do the same. He had a wonderful, if offbeat, sense of humor and a kind temperament. His smile was contagious. Above all, he had a strong sense of justice and valued integrity, striving for it in his own life and admiring it in others. He will be missed dearly by his wife, Julie Bubul; his daughter and son-in-law, Willow and Nathan Stokes; his grandaughter, Aubrianne Stokes. He also leaves behind sons, Bill Bennett, Tom (Susire) Ryan, Herb (Nora Cadena) Bennett and Eugene Bennett; granddaughters, Jessica and Alex Bennett; sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Doug Campbell; sister-in-law, Jenny Brown; nephew, David Brown; brothers-in-law, Steve Bubul and Lee Lewis; and many beloved friends, especially Lois Haight, Roy Johnson and Dianne Pecoraro. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peter's memory to Kino School, 6625 N. First Ave., Tucson 85718. Memorial service will be held at Catalina United Methodist Church, 2700 E. Speedway, on Saturday, February 9 at 10:00 a.m.
