Peter Tountas Obituary

Peter Tountas 86, of Tucson, passed away on February 27, 2025. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was born in a small mountain village in Greece. When he was 12 years old, he immigrated to the United States to live with his uncle and their family in Hammond, Indiana. He pursued his passion for bowling and made the remarkable journey from a boy who sets the pins to a professional bowling champion. He was inducted into the ABC Hall of Fame. It was during his time on tour he met and fell in love with his wife, Sandy. They settled in Tucson and where he became the general manager of Golden Pin Lanes. He loved bowling, golfing, and was an active member of the Greek Orthodox Church. Peter is survived by his two children, Michael and Michelle, and many grandchildren.

Pete was a great guy! We bowled together years ago in the Citizen Classic bowling league. Listening to Pete and Billy Kraft banter back and forth each week during league was a riot!

Pete was a great bowler, an excellent manager of Golden Pin Lanes, and a terrific friend!
God Bless him!

Pete was an amazing person but more than that he gave my small business an opportunity to do the electrical scoring system at Golden pins
It was one of the first jobs l ever did as a small business owner with my wife and he gave me the trust that allowed me to do this
GOD REST HIS SOUL

He and my mom came to the US as children for a better life, they were sister and younger brother. Though we never saw him as much as we did before he got married and moved to Tucson, we were proud of his accomplishments, pro bowler then proprietor of Golden Pin Lanes. My mom spoke of the early years and the times they experienced living here in a new country and experiencing a new life from the uncertainties of living in a small mountain town in Greece. RIP Uncle Pete. Dean & Stacy Sakellariou

Quality moral person, always straight up and a good man. Did not have a lot of
interaction with Pete but when I did he was straight up and honest. Sorry this world lost him.

I got to meet Peter in Tucson at Golden Pin Lanes and 1979 when the WIBC went to Bowl there. 30 years later he walked into a bowling alley in San Leandro and I was so glad to see him again. Rest in peace sir..xxxxxxxxxxxx

I met Pete when I was a young bowler at the Cactus Bowl. I knew Sandy and her family from the Cactus bowl...Became friends with Her brother Eddy. Pete was always kind and informative about my bowling. They were a fine couple...Sandy being so gracious! I'm proud to say Pete and Sandy were friends. Best to Michael and Michelle...Gode Bless.
