Richard Feckner Obituary

Richard "Dick" Feckner 5/12/1931 - 10/13/2015 Born and raised in the Chicago area, Dick was in the Navy when he met the love of his life Gracie on a blind date. They wed on December 31, 1951, just after Gracie's 18th birthday. After his service in the Korean War, Dick and Gracie settled in Tucson with their growing family. The consummate family man, Dick worked two jobs and did yard work on the side to support his family all while coaching his children's sports teams. He worked for the Postal Service as a rural carrier for 33 years and continued to deliver mail on contract routes after retirement, amassing over 50 years of service. Dick was a union man, working as a union steward for 14 years while with the Postal Service. He was also a devout Catholic; he never missed weekly mass and volunteered for many years with St. Vincent De Paul. Dick was an avid sports fan, especially devoted to the UA Wildcats. He shared a special bond with his youngest grandchild Damon in his later years, enjoying nothing more than attending Damon's baseball and football games. Dick is survived by his beloved wife Gracie; children, Donna, John, Kurt (Melie), Patti (Arthur), Jim (Robin) and Jane (Dennis); grandchildren, (and their nicknames) Michele (Spider), John (Johnny Ockenpuss), Nicole (Nikki Knockers), Tiffany (Tiffy Tutu Barie), Bridgette (Bucky Bob Beaver), Rachel (Rachel Lee Hoffer), Matthew (Owl) and Damon (Duke Dukealiss); seven great-grandchildren, and sister Mary. His brother John died on October 15, 2015. Preceded in death by grandson Richard; son-in-law, Tom; sisters, Jane and Ruth and brothers, Bud, Tom and Paul. Mass will be held at St. Cyril of Alexandria Catholic Church 4725 E. Pima St. at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 21, 2015. Arrangements by HUDGEL'S SWAN FUNERAL HOME.

Dick was State Steward of AZ Rural Letter Carriers several years back. I met he and Gracie then. What a beautiful couple. I was a local steward and often called on Dick for his expertise. He was always kind and helpful. It is with sadness I learn of his passing. Eternal rest grant onto him. Hugs to Gracie.
