Roger Fox Obituary
Roger William Fox passed away peacefully on December 2, 2025, in Tucson, Arizona, with his wife Gail by his side. He was born on May 8, 1936, in Turlock, California, the middle son of Walter and Berenice Fox.
Roger was raised on the family farm in Delhi, California, and graduated from Livingston High School. He pursued higher education with dedication, earning his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Davis, a master's degree from the University of California, Berkeley, and a doctorate from Michigan State University.
For 35 years, Roger served as a professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Arizona. His academic career brought him great fulfillment and opened doors to extensive international travel. He visited every continent and lived abroad in Brazil, Portugal, and Italy. His passion for global engagement began with a formative three-month trip to Pakistan in 1960, which inspired a lifelong commitment to understanding and addressing global poverty. Along the way, he built enduring friendships that remained important throughout his life.
Roger met Gail on St. Patrick's Day in 1983 at The Shanty. They married in 1984 and shared 41 years of marriage filled with adventure and companionship.
He was a devoted father to four children: Debbie (John), Dan (Kelly), Billy, and Chris; and a loving grandfather to seven grandchildren: Liam, Shaun, Brayden, Emma, Conor, Jack (Cassidy), and Will. He is also survived by his younger brother Fred and was preceded in death by his older brother Grant.
Roger will be remembered for his intellectual curiosity, adventurous spirit, and deep commitment to both family and students. His legacy of global citizenship continues through the many lives he touched.
