Stephen Vihel Obituary

Stephen Edward Robertson Vihel passed away on December 1, 2011 in Tucson. He was born in Perth, Western Australia on July 17, 1980 to Richard and Rhoda Vihel. He was predeceased by Rhoda and his brother, Michael Keppel. He is survived by Richard; his brother, Geoff Keppel and his partner, Lila Garcia. Steve graduated from Flagstaff High School. He earned a BS (Geology) at University of Wisconsin and an MA (Linguistics) at University of Colorado. Steve studied abroad at Freiberg University, Germany and taught English in Thailand. Cycling and Ultimate Frisbee were Steve's passions. He cycled extensively in Italy and rode from Tucson to Madison, Wisconsin. He founded and operated There and Back Bicycles in Tucson. Steve played Ultimate Frisbee in Tucson, Boulder, Colorado and Germany. He was very competitive. Steve was always positive, engaging and friendly. He embraced life with great joy. His life was short but well lived. A Memorial Service and Celebration of Steve's life will be held at Saint Philip's of the Hills Episcopal Church in Tucson on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m.

Steve has left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His positivity, kindness, passion for life and his one-of-a-kind laugh will forever live on. Our sincere condolences to the Vihel family. You are dearly missed, Steve.
