Virginia BICKLEY Obituary

BICKLEY, Virginia Elaine (Mack), passed away on December 27, 2017 in Gilbert, AZ. She was 98 years old. Born September 29, 1919 in Detroit, "Jinny" attended Alma College and then transferred to Michigan State University where she was one of the first females to graduate from their School of Communications. During the war she toured the US with the USO helping to support the troops back home. After the war she started working in the fashion industry and eventually became a buyer for a large clothing store. Eventually, she followed her parents to Tucson where she met my Dad (Bill) at a dance at the Old El Conquistador Hotel. Together they traveled the state of Arizona and parts of California, following construction work. In the late 1960's they settled in Tucson and made it their home. Jinny was always active in a number of organizations including, Pantano Republican Women's Club, The Assistance League and Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She made some really good friends through these organizations. Jinny and Bill traveled to a number of places both in the US and overseas but the highlight was probably their two year stay in Canberra, Australia. I can say this, my mom didn't get cheated and was really in pretty good shape right to the end. I would like thank the people at Sunrise Senior Living in Gilbert where she lived for the last three years and also Hospice of the Valley which made her last months so much easier. Jinny is survived by her son, Glenn (Lisa); and granddaughters, Caroline and Alyssa. No services are planned. Donations can be made to your favorite charity or to the Humane Society of Southern Arizona. Arrangements by EAST LAWN PALMS MORTUARY.
