Like another respondent, her name popped up - I was thinking about immigration lawyers. She VERY ably assisted a young family I knew. Wondering where she was these days I found her obituary....taken too soon. She was not just an excellent attorney, she had a wonderful, ebullient spirit. So sorry to learn that she is gone.

Just found out about her death when I referred a friend of mine to her. She was the best lawyer and helped me a lot a few years ago. I have been meaning to pass by her office and let her see the success she has been part of. I guess it's late now.Sabrina, you had a great mother.Thank you

Zada's name just popped into my head and I googled her name only to find out that Tucson had lost such a wonderful woman. Zada handled my son's adoption almost 26 years ago and she was such a delight. I am so very sorry for her loss and wish that I had known so that I could have attended her service.

I was privileged to know Zada when she was editor-in-chief of the Tucson High newspaper. I remember her fondly as a bright, friendly, and energetic person who always found time to help me learn the ropes as a "cub" reporter. Several years later, I also became acquainted with her lovely family and came to understand from whence Zada's inner beauty sprang. This world is a better place for having had Zada in it.

I met Ms. Soto only a year ago, when I did some work to help one of her clients with an immigration case. She was gracious, passionate and so dedicated. I was looking forward to working together in the future. So very sad to hear of this tragedy! Blessings to all of her family.

Zada and I had the privilege of serving on the Tucson Girls Chorus Board of Directors together. What a joy to work and become friends with such an amazing, accomplished and giving woman! We reconnected just a few months ago, meeting for breakfast and sharing about our daughters. My heart goes out to you, Sabrina - may God comfort and console you and remind you that your Mom will always be a part of you and those special memories you will cherish.

Zada and I became good friends when we met in a philosophy class at the University of Arizona in the mid-sixties.   I will remember her as a generous person, adventuresome and fun-loving, yet always dedicated to her long-term goals.  Despite our busy schedules, we were able to have lunch together a couple of times when Rene was a small child.  It was obvious how much she relished her new role as mother.  I remember her excitement when she won an immigration case at the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco.  No doubt there were many such accomplishments  in her career, yet she valued her family ties and always tried to put her loved ones first.  I mourn her untimely passing and extend my deepest sympathy to all her family.

I miss my neighbor Zada. I enjoyed our weekly walks, sometimes canceled because of her dedication to family and clients. I miss our talks about family, life, and plans. Zada worked hard and played hard. I felt privileged to have her as a neighbor and thought it would be so for much time to come. In my heart and memory, Zada will be there. Sabrina and Rene, please contact me if I can help you in the same neighborly manner that I did with Zada.

Rene and Sabrina, Dr. and Mrs. Edgar: I am very saddened by Zada's death and send my deepest condolences to you all. May God soon grant you all the strength to no longer mourn her death but celebrate her life. I was so very fortunate to have worked with Zada and Ernesto for many years. I had my very first law firm job with them, they took a chance on a "green" Guera from Nogales and she taught me everything I know about being a legal secretary/assistant. I was always treated as not only an employee but a member of the family. I loved them both. Rene and Sabrina: I had lunch with your mom not long ago and she couldn't stop gushing over you both and how proud she was of the young man (Rene) and young woman (Sabrina) you had become. You both were "el luz de sus ojos". Please know that if there is every anything either of you need, I am a phone call or email away. I know that she would do the same for my boys. Zada: Que en paz descanses, thank you for sharing a part of your life with me. I am truly blessed for having known you.

Zada and I went to law school together at a time when having 49 women in the class was a challenge to say the least. Zada was then and when I last saw her full of sparkling fun, smart as always, interested in so many things. She used her legal talents and compassion to help others. Her untimely death is a loss to us all. My deepest sympathy to her family.

Zada was very special. She was an incredible sister. The heartache of losing her is greater than I thought it could ever be. Reading all of these notes from so many people that were impacted by her in such a positve way has really been good for me and I am sure for all of her loved ones. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this. Hope to see many of you this Saturday.

I am shocked and deeply saddened to hear of Zada's untimely death in California. Zada and I practiced law together at the County Attorney's office and were very close friends for years. More recently, our lives have gone in different directions, but whenever we met it was as though no time had passed since the previous meeting.

Zada was a remarkable woman and fabulous attorney. Our community will miss her greatly. My thoughts and prayers are with all of her family.

Zada and I have been friends from the time we met each other in San Francisco at our annual AILA conference in 1984. We became very close soon after we shared a hotel room at that conference. It was such a rewarding experience that we shared a room at each subsequent conference.

I have some wonderful memories of spending our time together. She was full of fun and adventure, as well as service to humanity. Her departure from our lives creates a void in my personal life as well as in my professional life. Her hard work, generosity, and dedication constitutes a living legacy for me and my husband, with whom she also shared her wisdom and experience during her several stays with us in Washington.

Farewell, Zada. I wish you peace.

Attorney and Fellow Member, American Immigration Lawyers Association

I met Zada 23 years ago when I met a wonderful man who I married and lived in Tucson with him. I am from New Zealand so the legal process to live there was scarey, and Zada made it easy for me and my husband at the time. Rest in peace Zada. You gave me an opporunity to enjoy life in America and time with a special person. Thank you. Be at peace with the angels when your ready.

I met Zada in law school and she never ceased to be the competent, compassionate, vivacious and caring person she was back in the early 1970s. The world was a better place because of her and is now a bit sadder for having lost her. My condolences to all, especially David whom I went to THS with and Ralph with whom I was in band with while he was drum major. Love and prayers all around.

Dr. Edgar, you may not remember me but we worked together for years at DDSA. I remember you telling me how your daughter kept my ex-neighbor, Meg Richey, from being deported(she was a trainer at the U of A). I know how proud you were of her. We also talked about THS as I believe your children had gone there as I had.
Please accept me heartfelt condolences.

It has been 50 years since Zada and I have seen each other - when we played our flutes in the band at Tucson High. Through connections with family and friends, I heard from afar of her successful career and interesting adventures. It made my heart ache when I heard about Zada's tragic and untimely death. My sincere sympathy to her family and friends as you all, especially, mourn for her.

Zada will always be a hero to me. Not only did she raise Sabrina into an awesome person she taught me how important it was to keep moving forward, keep trying and to never give up on goals in life. Rene and Sabrina I am so sorry for your loss but know she is with your dad now and they are both smiling down on you with smiles only proud parents know. If you need anything please let me know and I will try my hardest. You are missed greatly Zada! Rhonda

My Mom, Zada Edgar-Soto was the most amazing woman I have ever known. She was my role model, my rock, and my best friend. Even though I was hoping for another 30+ years with my Mom, I am still really thankful for the time we did get to spend together. Mom, you will never be forgotten, and always in my heart.
