Alan Smith Obituary

On October 4th, 2025, at his home in Broken Arrow, OK, Alan Ray Smith received the full measure of the joy of the Lord. Alan was born March 4th, 1951, in Tulsa, OK. He was raised in Carbondale, baptized at Pheonix Avenue Baptist, and graduated from Tulsa Webster High School in 1969. Alan joined the United States Army and married Jamie Smith in 1971. The young couple returned from service in Germany to start a family and graduate from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK. His professional career would lead the family throughout Oklahoma, primarily Woodward, Grady, Cleveland, and Tulsa counties. For hobby Alan enjoyed hunting & fishing, vegetable gardening, carpentry, coaching youth baseball, photography, OU sports, and travel. Those who truly got to know Alan discovered a great sense of humor, a quick-witted man with a silly side and always easy to laughter.

A devout Christian, family was second only to God and "Peepaw" was the title held most dearly. Alan was preceded in death by his parents Alvin L. Smith and Jacquelyn Smith of Tulsa, OK, and daughter Jacquelyn J. Smith of Norman, OK. He is survived by his wife (of 54 years) Jamie Smith of Broken Arrow, OK, sister Cheryl Cleland and brother-in-law Bill Cleland of Glenpool, OK, son Amos Smith, daughter-in-law Elia Smith, and grandchildren Daniel Smith and Autumn Smith of San Diego, CA, daughter Glory Police, and grandchildren Matthew Police, Andrew Police, and Alicia Police of Broken Arrow, OK, son Elijah Smith of Broken Arrow, OK, granddaughter Micah Morgan, grandson-in-law Clint Morgan, and great grandchildren Roman Morgan and Elsie Morgan of Skiatook, OK, and so many beloved members of the extended family.

Alan was laid to rest on October 17, 2025 at Floral Haven Funeral Home. His family is forever grateful to the anonymous liver and kidney donor that added almost nine years to Alan's life. In lieu of flowers, they request donations be made to the American Society of Transplantation (www.myast.org/give).
