Billie Louise Walker

Billie Louise Walker, age, 93, passed away Saturday January 16, 2021. Billie was born July 24, 1927 in Clayton, OK, to William Murray Oldham and Gladys Louise Oldham. The family relocated to Hutchinson, KS where Billie grew up, along with her parents and sisters, Marjorie and Betty.

Billie graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1945 and went on to Graduate from Hutchinson Junior College in 1947. Billie met W. H. (Bill) Walker while working at the Hutchinson Municipal Swimming Pool the summer of 1947 and they were married in February 1948. Bill's career with Phillips Petroleum began June of 1948 and their first child, Carrie Sue was born Thanksgiving of that year. After moving to Missoula, MT, Anne Elizabeth and Rodney James were born. Phillips next moved Bill to Spokane, WA and then in 1960 to Bartlesville, OK.

Billie was a homemaker and devoted mother. She enjoyed a lot of different activities at home with a growing family and outside the home with family & friends. Gatherings with the whole family to celebrate birthdays and holidays was always a priority. Billie was a talented seamstress, did a lot of sewing and many forms of needlework. She enjoyed activities with a sewing club, gardening and events with a garden club as well as volunteer work through the church and other local efforts over the years.

Billie and Bill were long time active members of The First Christian Church in Bartlesville and served in many ways. Billie enjoyed all her many friends at church and throughout the community. She valued the fellowship as well as the opportunities to be of service to others.

Bill retired in 1985 and they were able to travel, visiting family and friends all over the country and seeing the sights along the way. They visited historical sites, parks, saw a variety of live music shows and sampled local cuisine everywhere they went. Billie especially enjoyed the art festivals, craft fairs, home and Garden shows, even the occasional roller coaster and zoo. After selling their home Billie and Bill moved into Green Country Village and learned to appreciate the perks of senior living and continued to join a variety of activities with family and friends. The family moved Billie to an apartment in an assisted living community in Tulsa after Bill passed away in 2016. Surrounded by all her familiar furnishings, family photos, art, needlework creations and her many books, Billie continued to enjoy family visits and phone calls, reading and the occasional community event.

Billie is survived by: her daughters, Carrie Kitterman of Tulsa, OK, Anne Padgett of Edmond, OK; a son, Rod (and Lisa) Walker of Round Rock, TX; three granddaughters, Heather Henson (and Gary Parchem), Crystal (and Jake) Shuler, Valerie (and Troy) Dudenhoefer; four great grandchildren; Dylan Henson, Lilliana Shuler, Joshua Walker and Christopher Dudenhoefer.
